I have been unofficially diagnosed with a stomach ulcer. My appointment to see the specialist isnt for another week and 1/2. Which sucks, because I feel sick/ nausea all the time. At this point the local family doctor has given me Prilosec( 2x daily) to relieve some discomfort. It is helping a little. What are the best foods to eat? Im thinking more bland foods ( toast, cereal, mashed potatoes, yogurt ...) and what is the best thing to drink. I know coffee, tea and caffinated drinks are big No Nos. But what about juices, or am i only left with water? Thanks for your time.

Stay away from spicy foods. No milk or acidic juices. Just water and bland foods for a little while. Most stomach ulcers can be treated with antibiotics; so you should be fine in a few weeks.

My father cured an ulcer by drinking alfalfa steeped in water. Also camomile and mint tea would be safe to drink and offwer some relief from the discomfort. Avoid grease! Yogurt is an awesome idea it contains probiotics that help ypur digestive tract stay in optimal health.

Anbesol is fab from the chemist, it's a tiny little bottle of liquid you just rub on very soothing and 10 times better than bongela. Eating yoghurt is supposed to keep ulcers at bay.

Stay away from anything white... potatoes, pasta, rice, sugar,
salt & butter. For drinks... stay away from anything acidic...
tomato & orange juice. If you like spicey food... you might want
to slow it down or stop using spices for awhile.
If you really like juice, try apple juice or a mild fruit kind. Drink
water after every other kind of drink. Helps flush out the system.
Good luck! : )

My mother has IBS and to keep your stomach from getting upset, she eats rice. Anything bland is correct as well. Other than water she drinks Gatorade. Stay away from acidic fruit as well.

NO OILY AND SPICY FOODS, Don't be empty stomach for long time, small and freq. meals are required. no tea coffee or aerated drinks as you mentioned, yogurt is really good, u can go for buttermilk as well.
If you have H. Pylori infection than you have to take short course of antibiotics and H2 inhibitors or proton pump inhibitors, if h pylori is negative than only h2 inhibitors or proton pump inhibitors and antacid tab/ syr.

mild, bland, non greasy, non spicy, and non acidic foods. I find juices like orange, cranberry, pineapple, and grapefruit juices to aggravate the acid in my stomach and cause heartburn.
