Your question is excellent! I am a Catholic youth, for the record.
God answers all prayers.
That being said, He answers all prayers in His own way, and rarely does that correspond to what we had in mind. We must surrender to His infinte knowledge and wisdom, and seek what is best for us, as He does. What we receive will be what is best for us, according to His perfect knowledge.
There is a difference to be mentioned here among different types of prayers. Certain prayers are infallible, that is they will definitely be answered in a very clear way. Such prayers could be categorized as directly begging for sanctification and growth in holiness. If we pray that we will have an increase in love of God, it will surely be given to us. Conversely, if we pray for the outcome of some temporal event, such as the Lottery or a sporting event, it is likely that the prayer will not be answered in the expected way.
Another key point is that "no" is an answer. A parent reprimanding his children or restricting their access to a certain activity or object *answers* "no." The child does not, then, ask why the parent did not answer! For the parent did indeed respond, in the negative.
Above all, be open to the inspirations God sends by way of our Advocate, the Holy Spirit, and pray waiting for the Lord to speak to you, not demanding that He listen to you. Trust in the goodness of the Lord, for he says in Jeremiah 29:11: I know well the plans I have in mind for you... plans for your welfare, not for woe, a future full of hope, etc, etc. And if you should be in need of any help, call on me and I will be there with you.
I'm not sure of your position on the intercession of saints and angels, but that is another channel by which prayers that might not otherwise have been answered in our preference may actually be granted in that or a similar manner. I here refer to Mary above all, but all the heavenly host. Please see the Catechism of the Catholic Church (available online at http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/_INDEX.HTM ) for more information regarding this subject.
God bless!
Another way of thinking about it is to follow the acronym ACTS that refers to the principle types of prayer: Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. Adoration is giving praise to God; Contrition is expressing sorrow for sins; Thanksgiving is giving thanks for favors received; and Supplication is the asking part. If each prayer contains all of these aspects it could be called a "perfect prayer" (though not necessarily infallible)
And there is no such thing as luck; nothing exists or happens without God's consent.

No! There is no certain way to pray as long as you believe you have it. Although you need faith. You have to think about faith. God already knows what your plan is even if you don't. So whatever is laid out for you will happen no matter what. You can change your destiny and fate by the choices that you make along the way. Just pray for guidance that the choices you make will be the right ones.

I've had a lot of experience with God answering my prayers.
Start by thanking Him for the things you have.
Then the asking part:
How you ask does matter. He doesn't want you to ask "What should I do?" He wants you to figure out what you think you should do (that's why He gave us brains, He wants us to use them) then present him with the question "I've decided to do this. Is it right?"
If it is right you will feel really good about it. If it isn't right you will continue to feel confused.
Something else about answers. People sometimes say He hasn't answered their prayers when He actually did answer but it wasn't the answer they wanted.
If you ask be prepared to listen.
Three answers often given:
Yes.
No.
Wait.
And He doesn't neccessarily answer immediately.
Good luck!

The prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. It's not necessarily the way you pray that matters, but your "condition" as a person that's important. Example: If you harbor sin in your heart God will not hear your prayers.

Jesus answered his disciples this very question. You must first give praise then ask. The Father and Son love to hear the praises of their people. Then end your prayer with praises for the Father and the Son. The Lord's example is what we call the Lord's Prayer.

Yes, pray sincerely. Whether you are spontaneous or read from a book, try in your heart to mean each and every word. Prayers from the heart are always answered.

No, there's no special way to pray. Some religions teach ways to do it, though.
Remember, ALL prayers are answered, but sometimes the answer is "No."

The Bible indicates that yes there are certain things that need to be included in our prayers in order for them to be heard by God.
Rather than take up tons of space, I am including a link to an article that takes you to your Bible and helps you find the answer you are looking for. It is titled "Teach Us How to Pray" That is something Jesus disciples even wanted to know.

You could pray hanging upside down on the end of a rope swinging from a helicopter that is flying over the Grand Canyon... but it still won't make your prayers get answered...

It depends on the context of the prayer. If your asking for something for your own gain, than your prayer will probably not be answered. But if your prayer if directed toward the glory of God than its more likely to be ansewered.
