My whole body has been aching and I've had an elevated temperature for the last five days. My boyfriend said it sounded like west nile- is he just trying to scare me, or are those some of the symptoms?

No, he's a lawyer, but he had it once before with the same types of symptoms.

Most people infected with West Nile virus do not have symptoms. Others have mild symptoms. In rare cases, infection can lead to inflammation of the brain (encephalitis) or the tissues surrounding it and the spinal cord (meningitis). The time from infection to the development of symptoms (incubation period) usually is 3 to 14 days. Symptoms of the mild form of West Nile virus include:

Fever.
Headache, body aches, or pain in your eyes.
Skin rash (occasionally).
Feeling tired.
Not feeling hungry.
Feeling sick to your stomach or throwing up.
Swollen lymph nodes (occasionally).

Infection with WestNileVirus can be asymptomtic (no symptoms), or can lead to West Nile fever or severe West Nile disease.

It is estimated that about 20% of people who become infected with WNV will develop West Nile fever. Symptoms include fever, headache, tiredness, and body aches, occasionally with a skin rash (on the trunk of the body) and swollen lymph glands. While the illness can be as short as a few days, even healthy people have reported being sick for several weeks.

There are a lot of viruses that can cause these symptoms. If you have a prolonged fever especially if accompanied with a bad headache or stiff neck see your doctor right away!
