I have an awful time waking up in the morning. What can I do to get myself out of bed early. I do go to bed late, but I am a night person and I can't fall asleep when I go to bed early. Any suggestions? P.S. I don't even hear alarm clocks, and if I do I just turn them off and go back to sleep.

You must have a little self-discipline. Keep going to bed early every night, even if you don't fall asleep right away, and set yourself a mental reminder that you want to get up early the next morning. Set the alarm clock on as loud as possible, and put it where you can't reach it from your bed. When you get up, don't turn the clock off if you're going back to bed; set it to Snooze. "Early to bed, early to rise" is a habit that can be learned like any other. Good luck!

Hi Sweetie! Well, I have had to get up at 5am (or thereabouts) for the last 15 years for work. It is very hard, and has never gotten any easier. I guess the reason I do it, is because, I have to. When I have days off, there is no way I'm getting up any earlier than maybe 10am. Sounds sad but responsibility has made me do it. I go to bed at about 11 pm to midnight. And yes, I am falling asleep most of the day. Going to bed early even when you don't want to would require a lot. Here are some websites with a guy who suggests different things, try em, read it past the first paragraph:

Hmm, I use to be the same way. The thing that started to wake me up was well my schedule. I am always late for everything but I wanted to try something new. So I would go to bed at 11:30pm or so and make a plan to go work out or run 30 minutes in the morning at like 6am so I would turn like every alarm in my house on and I would totally egnore it. But then I found this awesome alarm clock that I have had for over a decade and it makes this horrible HUGE dog bark none stop until you would hit the button...well thats what helped me. Try getting an annoying..alarm clock. =]

You know, I have an alarm clock... my MOM!

And the thing is, she isn't going to stop... not until I'm up which is at 6 or 7 am. And I don't like sleeping during the day, it's a waste. So I usually go on the entire day, being tired. I don't know, you gotta be willing to wake up or you'll just end up turning off your alarm all the time. Good Luck!

I too am a night owl, I cannot fall asleep early and always had problems waking up in the morning. What I did is changed my sleep pattern. I go to sleep at the same time every night, at first I couldn't fall asleep either but i went to the vitamin shoppe and purchased some melatonin, it helps you fall asleep and is a chemical that is found in the brain already and is non-addictive like sleeping pills. After about a week of using the melatonin, and going to sleep at the same time every night i noticed it was easier to wake up in the morning and didn't hit the snooze button a million times. It sounds like we have similar problems with sleeping and waking up so try it maybe it will work for you too.

I am so glad you asked that question. I just had this exact same question for my doctor.

I cannot hear alarm clocks even up to my face, and I have 5 of them, and sometimes if someone wakes me up while I'm sleeping I'm really hateful and have no recollection of anything.

What you may have is sleep apnea... and there's a drug called provigil that can help.. Ambien can help at night, but you'll need to get in a better sleep schedule to really have success. Even if you go to bed at 11, that's a decent time.

1. Get a evening/night job (where you can sleep during the day)

2. Get one of those items that shake the bed when the alarm goes off.

3. Have a service call you daily to wake you up.

No caffeine 5 hours before bedtime! No distractions in the bed room like TV or a light on! Put the alarm clock across the room so you have to get up to turn it off!

Get a 2 foot alarm clock at wal-mart set it and place it across the room. Or do what I did for my Aunt. She had the same problem. So I MADE a 'special' alarm clock. I tied a string to her normal alram clock so when she would turn in off and throw it the string would pull down a bucket full of cold water. Boy did she wake up fast ^__^ be creative.

put your alarm clock across the room, have a friend call you, give your self a morning treat that will get you up, go to bed a little earlier, every night, exercise early, eat lightly, fix the coffee the night before in your bedroom, have some one come and pull you out of bed...good luck.
