Although things do evolve, originally we were all created by God. I think it can be said that every soul has some sort of intuition about their superior being. We were all born with intuit knowledge that God gave us. We came from Him. Since the beginning of time civilizations have looked to the stars and heavens for answers and knowledge. Nobody looked to the ground or other matter. Hieroglyphics from many ancient cultures show this. Even when man could not speak a language his drawings refer to the heavens as a Superior power. That is God! Since time began, species have evolved, that's nature. God provided all that we have and we have the opportunity and free will to enjoy finding as much knowledge as possible and grow in our spirits as we walk the earth. But, true knowledge will come when we meet our maker. The fun part is finding what is to come after that...

Well, I DO believe in creation. I mean, we're all here in this big ol'beautiful universe, right? There must have been a starting point somewhere.

But I do believe that evolution is factual. There's not a whole lot to dispute, really. Evolution is based on two main elements: first, that genetic materials can change periodically, and two, when a genetic change gives an individual or population a survival advantage, that genetic change is much more likely to propogate through the species.

We know that genetic materials can change more or less spontaneously for a number of reasons. If nothing else, the cellular mechanisms that copy and transcribe genetic materials are so complex that it would be hard to imagine mistakes not occuring regularly, some of which leading to permanent changes in genetic makeup.

As for "survival of the fittest" it just makes sense. To give a simplistic example, if global warming is upon us and my family is much more comfortable working in the heat than you are, the odds are that my family will successfully extend our family line (ok, this example works alot better when you're talking about plants and animals but you get the picture).

A big question is whether new species can occur via this two-pronged mechanism. Personally I don't see why not. However there does not yet seem to be much proof -- other than the fact that there ARE so many species around and they all share so many common elements.

For those who'd advocate intelligent design, my question is: what is greater proof of God's involvement? That He just decided to wave the ol'magic wand and poof, here's humans? Or that he created this wonderfully elaborate biological system we call life, knowing that one of life's manifestations, evolution, would ultimately it would produce human beings?

Neither. I do, however, regard evolution as the most likely explanation between the two. Given how well it works, I don't think it will be replaced by something radically different, only something more specific.

It's not a matter of faith; if evolution would predict something false it, in turn, will be false, and another theory will have to replace it. That theory must be able to explain EVERYTHING EVOLUTION CAN ALREADY EXPLAIN. Creationism, of course, explains nothing.

I don't believe in Evoulution. Because it's not a religious following. It has a basis in science and it is the most sound theory we have right now.

Just because there are gaps in the theory doesn't prove ID right. For a long time ancient people used God to explain away lightning, and other natural marvels, because they didn't have the methods or equipment to test otherwise. It didn't mean that God created lightning then either. It just means that science need more time.

Evolution because it is scientifically provable and creation isn't, the person who said this:

"Creation. Explanation? I believe in Jesus, end of story."

Just because you are Christian doesn't mean you can't believe in evolution - evolution is universally accepted, even by most religious people.

No one should "believe" in evolution. Evolution is a scientific theory that does not ask for or require belief. It is testable by scientific methods. Creation requires belief since it cannot be proved.

Evolution, because there is a lot of evidence to back this theory. Creation on the other hand, is not falsifiable. if we were accepting theories that are not falsifiable, we could make up any reason. For example, I could say, "The easter bunny created us," and no one could prove me wrong. Could they?

Evolution has too many flaws in the theories and so little evidence to back it up. Creation makes far more sense when you look at the fossil record. Check out AnswersInGenesis.org and see for yourself. God bless you. ~Nisa

Its a mix of both. I'm no atheist but i aint no religion guy either. I just think there's some greater force that meant for us to be here and set things in motion. after that little push i then think evolution started and took its course.
