Lunch is the way to go. If it is horrible you can make up any excuse to get out of the date with no time restraints.

Take her somewhere that you both can interact with one another. A movie is the only thing I advise against on a first date. Reason being that you have to be quiet for anywhere from an hour and a half to 3 hours with some of those borefests they call movies these days. When you interact, like over dinner or playing mini golf, or at a theme park, paddle boating, or whatever, it gives you a chance to bond. Give it a try and you'll see what I mean. And have fun!

Forget all the stuff above. Take her somewhere that represents the type of person you are or activity you enjoy. If you don't like going to movies, don't go to a movie. If you don't want to go paddle-boating because it sucks, don't go paddle-boating. If you don't regularly eat at expensive or 'nice' restuarants, I wouldn't go their on a first date.

Why? You set the bar very high and have a lot to live up to afterward. If you spend $100 on dinner for your first date, plan on spending the same for the next few. If you think that you just have to do it for a little bit till she becomes your girlfriend, your relationship is doomed. Eventually, she'll say, " You USED TO take me to nice dinners!"

That's not to say that McDonalds is a great choice either, but just find something that fits who you are and what you lie to do. Then let HER choose the place and activity for the next date with the same criteria. You'll have a much more realistic foundation for any further relationship.

Good luck.

people say not the movies because you cannot talk.. but I still talk in the movies. Maybe movies and ice cream I know its childish but then its quick and everyone loves ice cream. Especially how hot it has been everywhere ice cream at night it good. Breakfast is also good. for a first date you don't want to spend too much time together but enough for her to feel comfortable for a second more formal date such as a nice dinner or play or something like that.
If she is a movie person like I am take her there and she will be happy and get some good snacks!

You really can't get to know your date at the movies. She might feel awkward at a dance. Dinner or lunch sounds good because you can sit down and actually talk. Or even just going for a walk or hike somewhere might be nice especially on a sunny day. Zoos are fun too if there is one around you.

It depends on your age, and how much you have to spend. If it is a get to know each other date. Try and find out what she likes. If there is a movie she wants to see, or a restaurant she would like to try. On my hubby and my first date. We had a picnic lunch in the park. It was nice and we had a chance to talk and get to know each other.
Good Luck

Well I would think your starting to get to know this person so I would want to go some where, where I can get to know you. So I would say a dinner and then a nice walk at a park. Or Putt- putting or bowling is always fun for a first date.

Not the movies, because you cant focus on her if you have to pay attention to the movie. Go to dinner or lunch. You can see if she's a slob, has no manners and how much eye contact she makes with you.

This could be something you both like to do.
It doesn't have to be any of the things you
mentioned. It just needs to be a way to
get to know one another. Even if is walking
by the park, going for a ice cream after a bike
ride. Have fun. There is no real right answer
enjoy your first date.

Depends on your age. Since it will be a first, make sure it is somewhere that you can talk. Movies are fine but save the dinner until afterwards. It will make talking a little more comfortable.
