With no offense meant, but through personal experience, you're cheating. Not only cheating the fish, but the experience.

Two years in a row I spent time at Pitcastle. One of their offerings is fishing on property. The have seven Lochs. the highest of which I fished. I have no pics to show here, but suffice it to say I could have caught a fish using a pop off tab from a canned beer or soda. The stocking is designed to offer the fisher person, a catch. Mine happened to be 10 pounds and odd ounces, a rainbow.

Perthshire, the Highlands was an excellent place to be,,, and for anyone avid in any sport. I suggest however, that some level of afterthought might "let you down" in CATCHING something, basically stocked so that you can in fact CATCH something.

I've been fishing for nearly 56 years, and the experience of it,,,as taught,,,was more about communing, than catching. Catch and release is as much a prize, as the taste after the fact when cooked. "Trophies" are so often designed and needed for the insecure, the ego centered, and have only a small place in the Universal consciousness.

Rainbow trout are best caught when using fly fishing. They taste excellent cooked freshly on a barbeque.
