Jesus provided signs and miracles in order to give the Jews of his day a new understanding of and a new means of worshipping G-d.

To clarify my question, Deut. 13:4 says that rather than listening to this prophet, you should follow the commands of G-d. Now much of the substance of Jesus' prophecy was that it is no longer necessary to follow the commands of G-d, as He had given them.

Good point! But I'm sure they'll rationalize that away... LOL But you are right on! The old test does say not to listen to people who tell you to NOT follow God's commandments... yet, a vast majority of Christians tell you that Jesus did away with that and that you shouldn't follow those laws. (Yet, Jesus himself says he didn't come to do away with it at all).

Kinda makes me wonder if they actually READ... or if they just hum along while their pastors recite 5 or 6 verses that support their idea of what God is?

Deut 13:1-5 condemns prophets or dream diviners who encourage others to worship other gods. Jesus never told the people to worship another God-a god different from the LORD. That's why Deut 13:1-5 doesn't apply to Jesus.

Deuteronomy 13:1-5 speaks of a prophet coming and telling people to worship other Gods. Jesus came and spoke of the Lord our God. That's why it doesn't apply to Jesus. However, this scripture may be the reason he was put to death because they thought he was blaspheming.

Cause Jesus is the God according to John 1:1 and essentially what you are talking about is used to execute the prophets of false Gods, as we see in 1 Kings 18:40 when Elijah orders the execution of the prophets of Ba'al.

This is talking about the Devil when he comes pretending to be Jesus at the end times.
Jesus didn't come to change the law:
Mat 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

it does, especially verse 4

4. you shall not heed the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of a dream; for the Lord, your God, is testing you, to know whether you really love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul.
