My younger sister is 16, and her boyfriend of a year is always glued to her side. She can never go anywhere without him around. even when we go to the store he has to go.. when she takes the dogs outside he makes sure he's right behind her. and worse. she can't even brush her teeth without him standing right behind her. Then when she asks him to do something and says please about it. he sorta bitches. I started calling him a leetch cause he always has to be stuck to her side.. I'm affraid that it could be that he doesn't trust her or anything. any suggestions.

I have a boyfriend of 2 years and he's never acted like this. All I want to do is make sure she doesn't get hurt in the long run.

I wanted to talk to my sister when this was happening to her, and every one told me to stay out of it. Now she's in a marriage she hates, we found out she's cheating on her husband, and it took a long time for him to stop obsessing about her. No lie, if he wasn't with her he was calling every five minutes or more. When I came home from university and they told me this, I thought they were exaggerating, I found out in less than an hour how correct they were. She even called him on a 7 minute walk to the store just so that he wouldn't worry! Now she's very unhappy, and he is too. Obsessive behaviour like that doesn't usually just go away. And the younger they start, the worse it can be. I don't know what you can say, because I know my sister wouldn't listen the few times I did try, but if you can find a way to really talk to her heart to heart, don't put down the boyfriend or she won't listen, but just voice your worries and ask if she's thought about this, she may listen to you. Remember, talk to her like a friend, not someone trying to condemn.

It might be immaturity, but also, if he's insanely jealous, this is the beginnings of an abusive male.
She should get away from him before it's too late.
I'm guessing she's going to end up getting beaten up, and she will probably stay with him, and hide it from others the best she can.

I feel the same way about my sisters boyfriend. but she is 16 and he is 24. i know that with him that it is the fact that he doesnt trust her and until recently she has never given him reason not to trust her. i think with their situation that he is trying to control everything that my sister does. i am not sure if that would be the case for your sister also. but i know that my sister is to the point that she is getting really tired of it. maybe one day she will dump him.(I hope!)

Ugh, that's awful. To never have ANY privacy. Everyone's got to have some privacy sometimes. It's not healthy if you don't. He is probably VERY insecure and is trying to show his dominance in the relationship. This is very controlling behaviour and she needs to put her foot down, if it bothers her, now! But, it has to come from her. If she's not bothered by it, then you should butt out.

Your sister should be careful that this situation does not escalate to possessiveness and controlling. My step-sister lost her life at 15 because her boyfriend at the time became very possessive of her.

its going to be hard because they been seeing each other for a year and if he acting like that now then its only going to get worst. when he cant get his way he might get aggressive and possesive so beware. Just keep your eyes open cause your sister cant now.

the truth is she is 16 and probably thinks it's sweet, that he only does it cuz he loves her. you can tell her and she may tell you to mind you business and that you don't know what you're talking about. any how, my point is, it doesn't sound healthy, you need to let her know what's going on but she has to make the changes herself.

severe insecurity and social issues- these are very strong warning signs of an abusive relationship in the future- she needs to get out NOW!!!!

I think you need a boyfriend of your own, and leave your little sister alone! If she doesnt mind you shouldn't either
