I have worked in a produce department of a grocery store, and the answer is no. Certain produce labelled as "organic" or guaranteed to be of a certain age have to though. Come to think of it, this may vary from state to state.

Consumer demand from the stupid people that just can't pick up a pepper and realize it is rotten. Our grocery store here started doing that as well. Shrink wrapped and stickered, I suppose it makes it look more high end.

No. They don't have sell by dates on fresh produce. It's fairly easy to tell when fruits and vegetables have gone bad, so it's not really necessary.

Nah...I don't think so....i do not think they give sell by dates to produce- they just watch the quality
