Yes. It happens to all religions. But, honestly, I think our society has to have a drastic change before the religion will change.

Look at the fall of Rome... many religions, many different cultures... it fell, the RCC took over, making one religion... well, many religions, under one name. ;o>

Well, I think that your question misrepresents thae actual situation. It is mythology NOW... it always HAS been mythology. The REAL question is how long will it take before a significant majority of people ACKNOWLEDGE that it represents mythology rather than 'Truth'.

I sure hope it doesn't take 1,000 years, because if it takes that long, it can only have been because Christianity will have dragged humanity into another Dark Ages... and, believe it or not, we are actually pretty close to that happening.

Evolution is a chaotic process and can't be predicted for the most part, and that's no different for the evolution of mental viruses than it is for biological viruses.

...but, if I were to venture a guess, I'd say in 1000 years there will still be something called Christianity around, but it will be nothing like modern Christianity, just as modern Christianity is nothing like what it was 1000 years ago, or what Christianity of 1000 years ago was compared to early Christianity.

All religions have thier own mythology,

First lets examine the meaning of a Myth-
myth -
from (mythos) identifies a sacred story or narrative containing supernatural, divine or heroic beings, arranged in a coherent system, passed down orally, and linked to the spiritual or religious life of a community. Myths have existed in all cultures since before recorded history. Myths are often set in mythical time, a time before time or history begins, and are intended to explain the universal and local beginnings ("creation myths" and "founding myths"), natural phenomena, inexplicable cultural conventions, and anything else for which no simple explanation presents itself. In this sense myth is distinct from fiction, legend, fairy tale, folklore, fable and tale.

I would definitally say that the bible is used to explain universal and local beginnings (creation myths), Phenomena for which there is no simple explanation, and it most certainly contains supernatural, divine or heroic beings, arranged in a coherent system.

Okay from there, lets examine the difenition of Mythology-

Mythology
refers either to the act of relating myths or to the branch of knowledge dealing with the collection, study and interpretation of myths together with mythography, and folkloristics. As a field of study mythology is most closely associated with anthropology, psychology, literary and classical studies, political science and sociology, the later having the distinction of not requiring that a story be 'sacred' to qualify as a myth.

Which leaves us to deduct that because the Bible is printed in every language, and is available almost eveywhere in the world, that Christianity would be relating it's mythology, as well as the many excursions to find religious relics, would make the definition of Mythology valid for Christianity, even in modern times.

Hope that helps.

The Greek gods were totally fictional. None of them really manifested itself to people.
I do not think that Christianity will become mythology

If it's around I think it will resemble very little of what it is today. Just as the church today resembles very little of what it was 1000 years ago. Humanity is always changing, and religion has to change along with us or be left in the dust.

The fact that this throws the legitimacy of the religion into question is another topic...

For the affection of Zeus i'm hoping so! yet please no longer Scientology. maximum possibly Islam might want to take over Christianity interior the Western international in about one hundred years from now. Then the Abrahamic religions will fall to a cult-like state quickly after. Then Buddhism might want to dominate the West even as Hinduism might want to dominate the East. After some one hundred years of this the Earth might want to fall right into a era of irreligious (non-non secular) rule. After some thousand years of technological advances our man made creations will fail and the human-like creatures by using then might want to go extinct by using it is over dependency on technologies.

most likely. christians will tell you about how their religion is 2000 yrs old, but they forget that the greek religion was around for about 5000 yrs, so they pick and choose what they want from history and dicard the rest.

There are many religions (as an example - Gal.1:13 below, the Jews’ religion), but one faith (Eph.4:5 below).

Eph.4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

When we are baptized into Christ Jesus by the Holy Spirit we BECOME a “new creature” (2 Cor.5:17, Gal.6:15 below). We become, individually, as well as collectively, the living body of Christ (Col.1:24 below). We become the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 below, 1 Cor.1:2, 1 Cor.15:9, Gal.1:13), the one faith (Eph.4:5 above).

2 Cor.5:17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he IS a new creature (Gal.6:15 below): old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Gal.6:15For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature (2 Cor.5:17 above).

Col.1:24Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for His body's sake, which IS the church (1 Cor.10:32, Gal. I:13, 1 Cor.1:2).

1 Cor.10:32Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God (Eph.2:16 below).

Eph.2:16 And that he might reconcile BOTH (Jews and Gentiles - 1 Cor.10:32 above) unto God in one body (the church of God - 1 Cor.10:32 above) by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Gal.1:13For ye have heard of my (Paul's) conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above), and wasted it.
