Where have you been. Cities like Los Angeles, Tucson, El Paso are already foreign language areas.

I believe Miami is mostly Spanish. They do accomodate that large group by having many signs and notices in both languages. However, it is still in the USA and the language is English, Spanish won't become our "official" language. We have people in Louisiana who speak French but the official language is still English. We have the Pennsylvania Dutch who speak German but the majority of people who live in the USA still speak English. We have China Town. There is no law, and I see no need of any law, to restrict a group from speaking their own language, I would like for English to be the official language so everyone can converse easily and there won't be such confusion. Since this is a majorly English speaking country, English has been our language for hundreds of years, and many other countries are teaching English in their schools. There is no reason for the American citizens of the USA to change OUR language to accomodate a radical group of people who are in OUR country to cause trouble (illegal immigrants, their supporters, La Raza members, MEChA members, LULAC, MALDEF, and others) who are NOT the majority. I don't care if they speak their language, but don't expect to converse with the majority if you can't speak English. I might know enough Spanish to make out what is being said, but I wouldn't speak Spanish now, after the way they talked about Americans and abused our country. I'll just listen and take notes. Then when necessary I'll kick @$$!!

What you seem to be asking is: Could city meetings be conducted only in Spanish? And could all city documents be printed only in Spanish?

Actually, I hope this happens. There probably already are several smaller cities with such majorities. But the day such a city changed its official language I can assure you it'd make FOX News, Lou Dobbs, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and so on. Half the people in the country would be calling their congressmen.

Things keep going like they are, it'll change the language of our entire country. English speaking people could quite possibly become the minority, many other languages have been wiped out due to invasion and conquering. Hell even the bi-lingual spanish/english speakers in this country use Spanish most, even the legal ones. My new coffee pot, purchased in America, came with instructions in Spanish on the 1st page, English was 2nd page. What does that tell you?

The language will eventually evolve into something that won't Spanish but that horrible hybrid, the so-called Spanglish. I'm a native Spanish speaker and I hate listening Hispanics in North America speaking in what they call "Spanish," or the low level language skills that are smuggled into non Spanish speaking North America by my fellow Latin Americans, specially my brothers and sisters from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

They could legally state that all documents had to be in language X--some states have mandated that all government documents have to be in English, others have mandated that documents must be provided for in any language that has a certain percentage of speakers. I believe the only exception are federal documents--I think the Equal Voting Rights Act requires that balllots and similar documents be available in multiple langauges based on census reports.

Note that they could not say "All business must be conducted in Spanish (or English)"--this violates freedom of Speech; or "All schools must be taught in Spanish"--violates things like the No Child Left Behind Act. All they could change is the language the government uses.

They wouldn't change the "city" language. It'd be the nation-wide. I think it was recently declared that English is our language. and anyways, that wouldn't be fair. a lot of people speak both languages. why would you discriminate against the people that have lived there probably before you and only speak English. In my opinion, it wouldn't be right to change the language. If you move to a country that ones a certain language, you did move there and you made a choice. so now it's your choice to decide whether or not to learn the previously set language. you can't move somewhere and expect everyone to change everything. there used to e neighborhoods like the Italian neighborhood where they all spoke Italian and not English. Think about the name of our country. the UNITED states of America. We aren't seperate countries- we are one country and we should all be able to communicate.

Spanish is the language of bull fighters and drug dealers.

There is no academic reason for learning Spanish.
French is the language of diplomacy and finance.
Latin is still the language of law and medicine
German and Russian are good languages for engineering.
Greek is the language of biblical scholars.

I guess spanish would be helpful if you
plan to only eat fast food,
or supervise coolie labor,
or work with spanish speakers.

English has replaced French in almost every venue except romance.
In every Asian country - ENGLISH is what they learn after their native language.
Learning Spanish in China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and on and on just doesn't happen.

English is the language of International Business and Aviation. English is used in nearly every International Business transaction
to negotiate the deal.
International flight crews speak English
because the control towers are operated in ENGLISH.

Any butthole Mexican who comes to the U.S.
and doesn't learn English
is just being an @$$.

What on earth good would it do them? English is the California official language, and do you notice any impact?

Laws would need to be in English unless they became a majority of the entire country, because they play into Federal laws.

However, I understand that Spanish IS the official language of Miami. I haven't looked it up myself, so I don't guarantee it, but I do believe it.

It looks like they are going to change everything by the way that they breed. I've never a seen a race that breeds constantly the way Mexicans do. I think it's a sport for them. Yes, they probably could. Now, I know all Spanish speakers are not Mexican. There are a great deal of people who speak Spanish who are decent people.

Not only that, but they would stop in Congress what Congress will not stop now in terms of immigration. I mean, after you just beat the crap out of the American people in a court of law and have all the power to govern them without their consent and with no voice, do you think they would let China or Europe, or any large population repeat what they did? You bet when they own America that everyone is an illegal citizen not of thier choosing.

They didn't name themselves La Raza 'The Master Race' for nothing.
