I agree. Ever since I gave up religion when I was sixteen, and started to decide things for myself, my life hasn't been any different.
Well, other than I no longer have that religious guilt of all that "sin" crap. :o) And why do churches make you pay, anyway? None of them are taxed, like us citizens! Those thieving bastards!

I don't make it to church every Sunday, and those Sundays are the ones that don't go very well for me. Meeting up with people I call my friends and worshipping the Lord together makes Sunday special. I gladly put my money in the plate, because I enjoy having electricity and heat at the place I worship in. I also know that some of that money may make it's way to help clothe, feed, or help someone in our town who is in need. I have no problem with sharing.

Thanks, but I was without the church for a few decades and my life works much better with it.
A few hours on a Sunday, talking with people I like, listening to someone I respect, teaching little ones about how to do what God wants, like respecting others and remembering to be grateful - no amount of sleep or saving money could compare to that. I can just go to bed earlier and clip coupons.
But hey, if you're happy with those shallow goals of sleeping and saving a few bucks that help your fellow man and help fund charities in your town...that's all that matters, right?

why don't you find something better to do with your life than carrying around all this resentment and hatred for the church and its followers. If you really are happier without the church, then why are you dwelling on religions and others beliefs? You sound like you have a lot of unresolved issues with the church.

Already did.
Oh, and Rachel H, even if the church didn't qualify for tax exemption on a religious basis, it would qualify on a nonprofit basis.

I'm glad also, getting rid of that guilt trip the RCC laid on me over the years is my most memorable moment, Oh! and freethinking, no censorship.

That is your decision, after all it easy to do wrong then right.
Turning your back on Christ is easy anyone can do it.
But standing by him and doing whats right is very hard.
It proves that you have what it takes to be who Heavenly Father wants you to be if you can serve him and not the Devil.
Good Luck to you my friend
