"Studies have shown that most people say that they base their belief in God on the design argument. I think that this is part of why proponents of ID are putting so much energy into promoting their view and attempting to refute evolution. They realize that if the design argument were to fall, people might rethink their belief in God."

Sorry, but you missed the target completely!

If you did your own study, you would draw the same conclusion.

Just one example of intelligent people coming to realize that God is:

Dr. Flue (you can look it up with a google search) was an atheist. He had been working on the genome project, and he had to come to the conclusion that there HAD to be intelligence behind the structure of the DNA, genes, chromosomes, etc.

Also, check out the 3 laws of dynamics. There's nothing secret about this, nor is it complicated. You don't need to be an Einstein to understand that energy flows from a HIGHER source to a LOWER source, and for the universe to even exist at all requires an external source of energy. You do the math.

What studies?

Do you really have any idea about the panoply of arguments for God's existence? Try "Does God Exist?" by Hans Küng.

Here's another one to crack your head on: "Anselm's Discovery" by Charles Hartshorne, all about the ontological argument. Do you know the difference between the ontological and cosmological arguments? If not, why are you posting here as if you have a clue? Quit j*rking off and go do some reading offline.

Good point!!! It does seem to be like that. But, I don't base it on that. I just believe in something higher. Basically, it doesn't want worship, prayer, etc... So, even if evolution proves to be 100% truth (which, I believe evolution had a great deal to do with how life is today)... it still wouldn't phase my belief in something higher.

The "proponents of ID" do not have my 100% backing.
However, if design can be demonstrated then the next step is to answer the question:
Can there be design without a designer?

There are so many examples of complex design, it should be axiomatic.

NO

I base my faith on the gift of faith that was given to me.
The inner belief.
From that point I went to the Bible and my faith was developed or matured by what I was taught by the Bible.
Without the gift of faith, you can not truly believe.
It is true, Saints by calling.
You do have to be called.
John 6:44 "No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.
John 6:65 And He was saying, "For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me, unless it has been granted him from the Father."
John 14:6 Jesus said^ to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.
Who was He?
He was the Lord God.
He was the word of God.
He was God the Son.
He was the Son of God.
He was God.

No I base my belief in God on His Word, and if the account of creation is figurative, I would be disappointed that I was wrong but it is not my salvation.

I would never let that affect our relationship.

My belief in God is based on faith. Not a particular argument or reasoning. Simply faith.

About 48 minutes ago your question was answered by the question : Want to know what I just learned? This is a quote from "I have God's mercy's" answer:

"Science says the Bible is false and the Bible says that some science is false." And ... "avoid godless foolish discussions with those who oppose you with their so-called knowledge. (science)."

I believe in intelligent design. God did it. Evolution can't be proved.
