When you have chickenpox, the virus stays in your body. Many years later, decades usually, the virus reactivates itself and that is known as shingles. The length of time and the severity of the outbreak varies from individual to individual. It can be mild and just an annoyance or severe and very painful. Herpes medications work to relieve the pain and speed recovery.

I had Shingles for the first time a few weeks ago. I am normally in good health and haven't had any other health challenges before, so it came as a surprise.
Shingles is probably the most painful thing I have ever encountered. I went to the doctor, and he gave me some prescription drugs to take that was suposed to help, but didn't.
My wife found the Fast Shingles Cure ebook online and bought it for me, I am very lucky to have such a wonderful woman in my life. We followed the book, did what it said, and it delivered what it promised. Finally my Shingles rash is over... I feel truly blessed and thankful.

Shingles is the dormant chicken pox virus. As far as I know, if you have chicken pox as a kid, you carry the virus and it resurfaces. I've been told the pain can last for quite a while. It will heal, check with your dr. and ask if there's anything they can do to help..

I heard it was what you get as a adult if you never had chicken pox as a child? It's the same virus, only the reaction in adults is much more severe? I could look this up, but I'm tired since it's after 6 a.m. and I haven't even been to bed yet...now THAT'S addicted.

This is an infection of the nervous system and can be caused by extreme stress. The pain and randomness are different depending on your body and life style. Good Luck!

Shingles is just chicken pox for adults. You catch it the same way a kid would, from somebody else.
