I just saw a barbie named "bling bling barbie" WTF is up with that he has like no clothes, a belly ring, cell phone, she looks like a whore. Would any sane parent buy this for their little girl?

I completely agree, young girls dolls have become awful these days! Shopping for my small niece, I saw "punk" dolls, "bling" dolls, and I recently saw a preview for a Bratz doll and at the end of the commercial there was a girl holding a scantily clad bratz doll saying "I want to be just like her!". Are we really sending it out to young girls its OK to be a "brat" and dress like this?

I can't stand these types of dolls!!! The "My Scene" and the "Bratz" dolls just drive me crazy. My 7 yr old niece has some, and I have made it clear that I will not buy them. I have 2 boys, so they aren't an issue in our house.
I think that they send the wrong message to our girls. They emphasize sex, looks, and money. Is that the value system we want to pass on to our children? Do we want our girls to believe that the way they look, and the things they have, are what is important? What happened to teaching our kids about morals, about being good people, and about valuing traits such as kindness, intellingence, humor, etc?
I'm sorry, but I just cannot abide these types of toys. My mother-in-law calls me the "toy crusader", b/c I am very picky about the types of toys my two boys (4 yrs and 9 mos) are allowed to have.

I agree with you, I think it is horrible that they are doing this. It sets such a bad example of how one should dress, no one wants their little girl dressing like a hoochie. The only plus side of this is that it has smaller boobs..lol. But I mean, in our time we had the good ol' regular Barbies. Yes, their body frame and boobs were definetly disproportionate, but Barbies stood for something. The Barbies of our day helped to teach us that we could be anything that we wanted to be. I mean, we had the Astronaut Barbie, the Doctor Barbie, Teacher Barbie. We even had the wedding barbie, which helped to teach us girls some morals; I mean, Barbie stayed with the same guy for 40 years! Now we have the Barbie that is divorced from Ken (I mean, what kind of example does that set for later on???) and instead of a positive role model (like the doctor or astronaut) we have a Barbie dressing like a hoochie which is teaching girls to flaunt their stuff to get what they want. It is just awful. Sorry for the rant, had to get it off my chest...lol

EDIT: OMG, they have a Barbie My Scence Video game!!!

I have a 5 year old daughter and we saw the My Scene doll in a local retailer I was appalled. This doll is every bit as bad as the garbage put out under the "Bratz" name. I mean who in their right mind would buy a trashy toy like these for their daughter??? My daughter knows that she is not allowed to have bratz toys at all. At her 5Th birthday party I asked in the invitation that she not be given any bratz merchandise. I hope that retailers in the future get the message that these toys are not appropriate for our kids.

I use to think that My scene was a little better but I guess not....I really cant stand the brat dolls eighter. My niece is seven and I flat out told my sister I dont care if she begs for those types of dolls that I would buy it for her on my death bed, my sister was happy becasue she cant stand them. At my nieces birthday party she pulls out a gift (from a girl in her class) and it was a my scene....My sister looked at me like oh god and we both shook are heads. Most of the parents just dropped there kids off at the party so the only adults that were there were family and they were all passing the doll around in disbelief. Parents do buy this doll for the little girls....if they are sane I really cant say.

Well first off heck yeah there is something wrong and NO i wouldn't buy it for any girl mine or not. I have two boys now but hoping for a girl. I have a niece that is 9 and I will never buy her a barbie that doesn't have whole clothes on. What image are we sending to our young girls, Dress like a hoochie??? Its unheard of. Our world is sending the wrong message. Have some respect, love yourself and cover yourself.

I most definitly have a problem with them. Have you heard about the Bratz dolls? They also have the same characteristics!!! Lot's of make-up and lil clothes. Why are they showing these to our younger age girls? We need to show them powerful woman not whores that walk the streets!!!!

No...she's real. She's Mattel's attempt at stealing some of the Bratz market. PITIFUL. I wouldn't let my child play with a doll that looks like a hooker.

Maybe they'll make a "Gangsta Ken" to go along with "Bling Bling". He can have the ulta-baggy pants, backwards-a$$ hat, and 9mm tucked in his waistband, he can have a "Gangsta ride", too with a real working stereo that plays all the songs about their "b*tches & hoes".

p.s. I just checked out that image. She bears a striking resemblence to Britney Spears, don'tcha think?

WOW I never thought I'd say it, but that is going a little TOO far.

Hooker Barbie.

*giggles*

I would probably not want my child to play with that one.

Whatever happened to like, baby dolls and stuff? Legos? >.<
