No where in the Bible does it say "God sacrificed himself". It says God sacrificed his only beloved Son. The trinity concept or concept that Jesus was God the Father is pure ROMAN CATHOLIC generated bull and was never a teaching of the true New Testament Church.

I've said this a million times it seems but one more time; TERTULLIAN from 200 AD formulated the Trinity concept. The Roman Catholic Church officially embraced this heresy about a century later.

Again - this trinity concept was only taught about 200 years AFTER the New Testament Church and that should be speaking volumes to people yet they continue to read a triune god into the scriptures where there is non - in total denial of the Roman Catholic / Tertullian deception.

Jesus was sent as a Sacrifice to save man from the death that sin brings - so in a sense, yes, Jesus was sent to save man from himself. Even so, man has to accept Salvation THROUGH Jesus and not through any other means.

God loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son as a sacrifice so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

You see, God is perfectly just. And His law says that for sin, there must be a sacrifice (surprised?) In the old days, people sacrificed animals. But to finish it out once and for all, He sent a perfect sacrifice that would be a final, everlasting sacrifice for our sins. So Jesus took all of that upon Himself so that we could be saved.

The Lord Jesus Christ came to earth as a man so He could be the perfect sacrifice and die for the sins of the world. He was God manifested in the flesh. God can't die, angels can't die so He had to become a little lower than than the angels so could die. Philippians 2: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: Philippians 2: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: Philippians 2: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

That's exactly right. God requires perfection and we were until Adam & Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. After that time, we were banished from Eden. In fact, God made the fisr blood sacrifice to atone for their sin before He evicted them from the garden. That’s where they got the clothes from – God sacrificed animals to Himself to atone for sin.

Since then we have been either blessed or cursed (or both, depending on your POV) with free will. Free Will allows us to choose to sin rather than choosing to obey God (an impossible task since we can discern good from evil but are not wise enough to fully understand all the implications).

So God sent a series of prophets and leaders – each one greatly flawed – to lead us toward the level of comprehension where we understand that we are incapable of fulfilling God’s Law (or anything else) perfectly. Once the time was perfect, Jesus came to earth to live, teach, die and be raised again for our sin. Jesus, the perfect and spotless Lamb of God, is the Passover sacrifice for eternity. Because of His sacrifice we no longer fear the angel of death because we will live for eternity in Heaven.

In a sense your theory is correct but not completely. God sacrificed his only Son, in payment for all our sins, past, present and future. Without His sacrifice, we would have continued down our sinful self-destructive path with no hope for salvation. In that sense, he saved us from destroying ourselves and damning ourselves to hell. But, God's plan was to sacrifice His Son to pay for all of our past, present and future sins.
God Bless

Do you mean God? wasn't it his son?
Let's figure this: God send an Angel to impregnate Mary (IVF) with his sperm? So she can give birth to a mortal, Jesus, he is your son and , so he is his own father! Where did the Holy Ghost come in?

If I were Mary, I'd never get this story straight. Joseph must have been just as amazed as I am!

No. He sacrificed himself TO his Creation... I mean, it's creation/humans that have to accept the sacrifice right?

When have you ever heard of a God sacrificing something TO his creation? This has to be one of the weirdest ideas I have ever seen displayed in religion.

There is only one God! Deu 6:4,5; Ps 83:18; etc. Jesus prayed to God, so, just using logic, was He praying to Himself? No. He was praying to Jehovah, the One God. When Marry M. tried to touch Him after His resurrection, what did He say to her? 'Touch me not, for I have not yet accented unto my Father, but go and tell my brethren that I go unto MY GOD, AND YOUR GOD, unto my Father and your Father." More logic, If Jesus has a God, then He Himself CAN NOT BE GOD!

God is man's creation. Religion is man's greatest invention on mind controlling on masses started by some smart asses.

Believe in Burning in Hell? Rubbish you have a body to burn in hell and you soul feels pain?

Believe in Heaven? Having a body to have the 72 virgins line up for you while the penises already rotten on earth.

Heaven and Hell are on earth and God is in your mind...Not outside!

In a way, that's a good way of putting it. God sacrificed himself for our sins, and therefore opening the gates of heaven.
