You really need to take it to the vet. There are any number of allergies that cats can have that will cause it to not only scratch until it bleeds, but one of my cats ended up ripping out chunks of fur so that he had numerous bald spots. He ended up having a tumor of sorts and had to be put to sleep. If you cat ever starts to do anything that is out of the ordinary or in any way self distructive always feel free to call the vet. Even if you aren't making an appointment someone there might be able to give you an idea of what is going on.

I've had a LOT of pets in my life and you start to notice what is "normal" behaviour for them and what isnt, so always keep an eye out for that. It will be in your pets best interest!! Hope everything is alright and that the kitty just needs some sort of cream!

i had a similar problem last summer, she was stratching n pulling her hair out all the time, we took her to the vet and it turns out she had an allergy to harvest mites which are everywhere in summer.
the vet gave me prescribtion paw wash, u use it once a day, not instant results but a lot better.
Take ur cat to the vet before buying any of this stuff from pet stores, they might be able to tell you exactly whats wrong and give u what u need.

Best to check with a veterinarian. But the most common cause of scratching, other than fleas, is vitamin B deficiency. A teaspoon of brewer's yeast stirred into your cat's breakfast meal (moist canned cat food) should clear it up. But please check with a vet first, to be sure.

That happened to my cat be for. Ends up she had seasonal allergies (kind of ironic seeing that a lot of my friends are allergic to her). The vet gives her a cortisone shot every year that pretty much takes care of it.

Is he/she scratching you, or him/herself? If he is scratching himself all up, he may have fleas, OR an allergy. You'll need to take him to the vet to have that taken care of.
If your cat is scratching you, still call the vet and see if they have any suggestions to help you out.

Take it to the vet...she's either got a skin condition or severe fleas.

They sell hydocoritzone cream for cats, that should relieve the itching.

Does it have fleas? Or lice? Or dermatitis? There is soap for all of those you can buy at a pet store!
