To me it lost it's meaning. In the eyes of the creator today I don't see how it's possible. It's been a mess over there for too long.
Are there any answers to the problem?

It’s not the land that is being abused. True, Jesus lived there but I don’t recall anything in a bible that says it is important to take care of and make holy the ground on which Jesus walked. He came with a message to change what is one’s heart. If Jesus is in your heart and you follow his teachings you take that wherever you go and wherever you live.
Well, JT I don’t usually agree with some of your postings but today you made a good point. It seems like it all boils down to real estate…Location, location, location. Power, control and oil!
Lawrence Louis -With the roots of those 3 faiths having their roots there you would think it would be one of the most peaceful wonderful places on earth. The turmoil and tragedy set poor examples of what those faiths mean. Each group believing they are the “chosen”, we are right and everyone else is wrong therefore we are given the right to kill and destroy. What men do in the name of their own Creator is the biggest tragedy.

The answer is simple as the nose on the members of the UN's faces...They have to make Jerusalem an International Free City like the Hague and take control away from all three of the religions that clame it as being their Holy City. That would in effect calm everything over there down. PEACE!

Well it is a considered the holy land because the largest three monotheistic faiths have their roots in that region. Just because turmoil and tragedy abound in the Middle East, it doesn't necessarily make it less than a holy place.

After all even when the Torah, New Testament, or Qu'ran were written, the Middle East was still volatile, and it was hardly a place of tranquility. I think the holiness can only come about as a result of suffering. After all it is in the slums and abject poverty of India where Mother Theresa gained much of her claim to fame. It was enduring the injustices of apartheid where Nelson Mandela became the prominent figure that he is. It is in the brutality of the crucifixion that Jesus reaches the zenith of his ministry. Pain is the crucible that brings about holiness.

The only thing "holy" about the "holy land" is its location as a trade route between three continents. In modern times, its location near the Suez Canal and oil producing nations makes it very important, or "holy."

And the same reason the US is continuing to wage war on Somalia & other nations that have strategic locations for shipping routes in the region.

Ever notice the US has very little concern for any non-oil producing nation not strategically located?

But, asking people who can't even find Israel, or the Middle East, on a global map why it would be strategically important, or "holy," is probably a waste of time.

God actually came to earth as a man and walked on that land. Mankind would naturally call it Holy. The land has been in turmoil since the beginning of time I think. I feel it has everything to do with it being considered Holy by the Christians.

God wanted the Jews to be an good example to the world, a holy people to God and a blessing to all nations. At this time they are an example of what not to do. But Jesus will return and save them from all their enemies to fulfill His promises to them and to be glorified in them.

It's true that many people have abused the land, but it's still the land where Jesus and his ancestors lived, and so it is holy.
