I have a different explanation. Keeping up with the Jones' is an old phrase describing neighbors who compete to have and be the best in material things. One guy gets a push mower and soon afterwards a neighbor buys an electric one. A third neighbor then buys a gas-powered one only to see the first guy replace his push mower with a riding mower. "I'm Jonesin for it" is like saying, "Everyone else already has a certain thing so I am planning to get the most recent model of that same thing very soon."

"Trying to keep up with the Jones' "
where you are constantly working to try and make sure you have all the luxuries in life that everyone else seems to have.....

It originally came from heroin addicts needing a fix. It means you want something real bad.
