i.e. How much is a can worth? Where do I take them? Aluminum used to have good recycle value whereas paper and plastic is just trash.

i dont no but they are 60 cents a pound here and i turned in about 5 trash bags full and got about 30 bucks back. good way to earn a lil exra cash.

It depends on how much effort you're willing to put into it. My grandpa and I used to collect aluminum cans, and actually we made hundreds of dollars. Wherever we drove (country roads especially), he would stop and I would get out and put cans in the back of the truck. We would fill up trash bags and after we got a LOT of big trash bags, we would pull the tabs off and put them in a milk jug. Then we would crush the cans and put them in a new bag. The new bag would go in the back of the truck. It took a lot of time and it's not something you can do quickly with just the cans YOU have, but I think it was worth it. The tabs came to good use too.. I was in 7th grade and all of the sudden they decided to do a soda-tab contest. Whichever class could collect the most tabs got a pizza party & all kinds of stuff. So while everyone was fighting over tabs off the soda cans from lunch, I just sat back and watched. :) At the end, I brought in three 5-gallon buckets full and we obviously won.... great memories.. lol sorry to get off the subject there buddy!

Recycling aluminim cans is a great idea. The aluminim is reused down to the last scrap. This means that there will be less mining for aluminum which is done mostly by strip mining.
Aluminum recycling is one of the success stories of recycling.

I do not think it is worth my time, but then again, if the city takes them, they get your cash. You (at least here in California we do) pay a recycling fee when you purchase cans, so if you do not take them in, who ever does gets your money.

yes it can be agood extra income as the price of all the metal soars in world it can be a good idea at present time i really say chears to young and dynamic persons like who's mind is able to grasp the opperchunity and care for envorment same time keep it up

what they dont want you to know is that recycling burns more energy than anything throw it in the regular garbage and let mother nature take care of it. you are killing the enviorment more by recycling.you burn more green house gas

of course it is, i recycle everything that i can. at lease you will know that you are doing your part in keeping the earth clean for future generations.
