Only alcohol drinkers can call thier bellies a Beer Belly. The others are Bulges, Chubby, Muffin Tops, Fatso, Gut---many of these people want a polite way to say what they are so they claim Beer Belly so other people won't rag on them for eating way too much.

Patrick,
Please allow me to illuminate you about this unpleasant mystery. That thing you call a beer belly, has nothing to do with beer, or fat, and is the leading cause of most health problems. The average American, when autopsied, has about 40 pounds of impacted fecal material lining their intestines. This nasty, black, rotting tar like substance occurs from eating processed foods, and using processed oils to cook our food. We also eat a diet low in fiber, which is why it starts to build up in the first place. By the time most people reach middle age, we are getting only a small portion of the nutrition from our already bankrupt diet. Our bodies are craving nutrition, so our brain tells us to keep eating. We get fatter and fatter, as we slowly starve to death. I am not making any of this up. The only solution, is to first, and carefully do an internal body cleanse. You must remove the hideous plaque from your intestines. There are several ways to do this, orally, or using deep cleansing enemas. I wouldn't bother to do it, unless you are going to educate yourself on proper eating and nutrition. I suggest you look into raw and living foods. When you eat cooked food, you are getting very little of the original nutrition, and your body has an immune response to it. You can probably extend your active lifespan well into your nineties, or longer, and suffer from much less illness along the way, if you eat whole, raw food. I know, because I look 20 years younger than my actual age, and I have only been doing it for 5 years. By the way, I don't have a beer gut.

Beer does cause a beer belly...all other are just over weight. All the carbs and calories in beer is what causes the beer belly.

The fact that we don't just drink beer but we eat alot of crap aswell has something to do with it, this then causes the insulin levels in our bodies to go up and down very quickly when we eat sugary foods/drinks ect so we get that high after weve just polished off the bar of choclate and as quick as it's gone up it's come down again, so when we have unstable levels of insulin it tends to store fat and guess where it goes!!!!! the rest is up to you hope ive been able to shed a little light although it was very basic i didn't want to bore everyone x

Beer has a lot of carbs and it settles right in your stomach, which is where the beer ends up. What are you supposed to get, a beer butt? And if someone does't drink, it's impossible to get a "beer belly". They're just plain ol' fat.

Its not the beer that causes the belly but the nuts and cookies you eat while you drink.

Beer has as many calories as a hot dog, imagine how many beers you drink. 10? That's 10 hot dogs, then you pig out on sheetz and pass out without any aerobic exercise.
That is why Beer makes you fat!
at least that's the conclusion that my sorority sisters and I came to.
Other people are just fat because they don't get enough exercise to burn the calories they take in everyday

If you ever get stranded with a guy that has a beer belly on a mountain top from a Plane crash...and he dies first, slice a nice tender piece of the bottom side first.

The "beer belly" or "gut" comes from the English phrase, "couched potato". You do not get enough exercise by doing arm curls with a 12oz can, nor do you using a fork packed with Hamburger Helper.
