Does anyone really eat Spam?

Some people just can't afford the good stuff. My family were exposed to the stuff when we were children because it was an easy way to feed five kids and two adults plus it was cheap-- If in a real bind again I think I could eat the stuff even though I haven't eaten it in years because we went to sliced ham-- Ham in a can taste just like SPAM if you ask me--too salty but could be used in a bind with other ingredients.

Not sure why, but it's very big in Hawaii. They even have Spam sushi there. Personally, I don't like it. My mother used to serve it sometimes for breakfast (she was from the South, rest her soul), and I ate it as a child---before I knew any better. I've tasted it once since then---it's salty and disagreeable.

They still sell it at supermarkets, so somebody must be buying it. But here is an interesting fact, when Spam was introduced to the Pacific Islands, some islanders loved it because it's taste was similar to human flesh.

I live in the south and people fry it. they slice it and fry it and either make a sandwich out of it, or use it as their meat. Actually I have known people from all over doing that. I personally think it is gross, but a lot of people actually like it.

My friends and I used to bring it on camping trips. When cooked well, I think it tastes good, though it could be a bit less salty.

My brother eats it, plain or with anything and everything he can find. I think the smell is disgusting. The texture is too. I wouldn't ever eat it. ICKY!
