I don't know if it is so much hating God as hating Christians. Most who bash Christians do not believe in God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit. They feel that it is their duty in life to enlighten us poor moronic Christians into their ideology. When this fails, as it has throughout history they get extremely offensive. They can't feed us to the lions, it is against the law. They can't simply kill us because of our beliefs because that to is against the law. This was the answer for some of the people in the early Christian society. You just thank the Lord for the opportunity to worship Him in peace, because one does not know how long that peace will last if the terrorists have their way.

The overwhelming majority of people believe in God, and I doubt any hate her/him.
Bashing Christians is another matter. This is not hating God, but being cranky with Christians. People who bash Christians are probably sick of all of the Christians who want to shove their religion down everyone else's throats.

i really honestly do not think there are god haters and i say this as a spiritual person and not an atheist , anyone who believes in god would love god i am sure , anyone who doesn't believe in god cant hate something they don't believe in
i feel that atheist hate the thought of someone putting upon them something they do not believe in or feeling free to put their point across that they do not believe , the same as we are allowed to do as believers ... its all good and fair and to be honest without those who do not believe we would have no room for a good discussion .. a discussion needs two opposing people ... so we need the atheists as much as they need us don't you think ?
love them and respect them for their beliefs and they may do the same :o)

And Christianity never did anything but tell us what to think. Some of us prefer the freedom of being able to do and think according to our own conscience rather than being little tin soldiers and thoughtlessly conforming to the will of a God that we will never see, and can never be proven to exist within this life.

We don't hate god. We simply know he doesn't exist.
As for what "god" did to the haters... it's not what your god did. It's what your religion did. Your religion has persecuted those who disagreed with it for centuries, and has been one of the most violent cultures the world has ever seen.
That's why Christianity is the chief religion these days. Your forefathers killed everyone who refused to pray to your god. Surely you know this?

I agree that the comments listed right here are especially impolite and uncalled for at cases, yet they arrive from each and every fringe of the spectrum. and that i don't think of the human beings you're concerning are indignant with god, they're indignant with the human beings who declare to believe in god and imagine all and sundry who would not believe is inferior. imagine being advised each and every of the time that you're a lot less of someone in preserving jointly with your ideals.

It is interesting that the God haters still take the Lords name in vain. I guess that is because deep down they know that is the only name with real power.

The only reason Christianity is the most persecuted Religion is because it is the only true religion. To me persecution is a great thing for Christianity, because it brings it validity.

I never disparage anyone's belief system if it causes them to be a more considerate, kind person to everyone.
The 'christians' I have a problem with are the ones that preach hatred, bigotry, discrimination and therefore violence against gay people. Their actions are completely contrary to their teachings. WWJD?

I used to be a God-hater before but now I'm not. If all the God-haters are like me, probably their reason would be, "if there is God, why am i suffering in this hell i'm in right now?"
