The Bible tells me not to argue about science. And the Bible talks about a false science too... hmmm that's interesting you learn something new everyday. Science says the Bible is false and the Bible says that some science is false...
1Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane [and] vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
It means: Timothy, guard what God has entrusted to you. Avoid godless, foolish discussions with those who oppose you with their so-called knowledge (science).

It says avoid "vain babblings" it doesn't say don't learn science... it means don't get into silly arguments about science...

There are always going to be people who twist the word. I just confirmed that too, with some of these answers.

This question is not about avoiding those questions I already asked them and when we are challenged we go deeper into the Bible and it gives us the answers and the Bible is telling me not to have discussions that will help no one.

Wow!!! I call that a 'word of knowledge'. That's what the Bible calls it when God reveals to us by His Holy Spirit what a passage of Scripture means and how to apply it to your life. Your answer is a 'keeper'. Thank you.
"For the gospel is for them that perish foolishness but to those who believe it is the words of eternal life."

Sure, why would he want to cloud up their minds with facts? Then they would start asking questions....

It's similiar to what dictators do today in their countries or cults do with their flocks. They tell them that anything else they hear could harm their faith in what they believe, be it a god or the ruler of their country, who portrays a god.

They portray any other point of view as evil and harmful.

I'm not surprised the bible would caution their followers in the same way. It's what anyone who holds their people by faith would do.

Science on the other hand welcomes legitimate opposite views, as long as they have evidence to prove or disprove. Science theory is scrutinized and if it passes all tests then it becomes fact.

Is that the religious process?

So this question was an attempt to avoid those discussions. That seems rather contradictory, since if you really intended to avoid foolish discussions then you wouldn't have posted this question.

If you don't like science then maybe you should stop using everything that society has gained from it. Like your computer, car, house, clothes, BOOKS (the printed version of your bible)... you know stuff that can be attributed to so-called knowledge.

Trust me, I definitely "know" in God but much of the bible was simply written to keep peoples minds believing in what was written and allow them to dismiss what was physically evident. Organized religion WAS merely a means to keep the past heathens civilized and make them controllable. Makes it really hard to believe in what we are left with today but I still have faith. Afterall, to truly believe in something is the hardest thing in the world. People are constantly trying to take it away from you.

Arguing never gets anywhere. We cannot argue, frighten, or "gross" anyone into the Kingdom of God (like some of my own anti-abortion people try to do with their posters).

We can let them know there is a hell, but not go into the gory details as some of our preachers overdo.

We must love them into the Kingdom.

wellll, I believe that science can prove God's existence (which is evident in Ken Ham's teachings about creation, etc.) or it can disprove God, but it just depends on what you are looking for. God wants us to be 'wise as serpents, yet harmless as doves' which is why we need to know as much as we can. He's just saying to be careful and not believe everything we see or hear.

You just learned that?

I am an atheist and tell Christians the same thing.

"Preach the gospel, use words if you must."

Was attributed to St. Francis of Assisi from nearly 1,000 years ago.
