I'm 40yrs old and I have scoliosis (curvature of the spine) which is causing shortness of breath. Will Yoga poses/stretches help with this problem? Which poses/stretches would you reccomend?

Yes, I think this will help you. It certainly won't hurt.
Get a yoga book, and try whatever positions you are comfortable with.

you are too old to re shape your bone, if you do difficult pose, it may fracture your joint,

try this for a start : stand straight

and then , try another : lay your back on a solid surface, try to stighten your back bone so from the butt above it contact to the surface, slowly up to the neck
