1. Liars bat their eyes more than usual. Usual frequency is 2 or 3 times a minute.
2. They don't meet you eye to eye when talking.
3. Talking faster than normal. What is normal - you decide, because you know them. They run out of breathe.
4. Look to one side - to the right - on the corner of the ceiling often.
5. Nervousness such as fiddling something when talking.
6. Your questions puts them on the spot, feel very uncomfortable talking.
7. Sweat profusely, more than normal.
8. Can't give you a instant answer for simple things - some people can't even remember their first name right away.
9. Swallow their spit often. This is because their mouth is dry due to extreme adrenalin flowing because of fear. They ask for water or cigarette or puff away fast.
10. Eyes pop out when asked about the incident that puts them fair 'n square in the middle of that incident. They hide it quickly, their voice tremble, twitch nervously and come up with an answer without giving it a thought. Knowing they have lied, they will try to come up a bad explanation.
Oh, you can tell when they are lying. That's for sure. It's easy.
In extreme cases, they even pee their pants a little. That depends on the severity of the lie - like murder, stealing expensive items and such.

Their eyes. Looking up and to the left or to the left in general will sometimes signify lying since that's the "creative" side of the brain. Their body language also. Stiffening or becoming fidgety will sometimes signify lying.
Above all, though, just look for changes in normal behavior. If your sister is usually laid back but gets high strung then there's a chance she's lying. It's pretty in-exact though.

If it were me, I would walk up to her and ask her to explain again what happen. Tell your sister before she begins, that you don't want to doubt her....ask her to tell you the truth. Tell her it means a lot that you two have a relationship when you get older, but if she can not be honest now, how can she expect you to trust her later.
A lot of people when they are lying, swallow a lot, raise their arms (talking more with their hands than usual), looks away....Depending on how old the two of you are, you should know her actions...what is normal for her and what isn't.
Whether you believe her or not when she is finished, tell her thank you for telling you the truth. The guilt just may get to her "if" she is lying.
Let us know what happens.....

Can she look you dead in the eye when she's saying whatever it is you're trying to believe?
If someone wants to keep something from you bad enough tho, there's really no way to tell if they're lying or not. Unless she has some distinctive charecteristic....ears get hot and red, she always looks down or away, she blinks a lot...

1. Observe her body language when you ask the question. A nervous twitch here and there or any subtle signs of her being a little jumpy may indicate that she is not comfortable with whatever they are telling you.
2. Does she pause to think before she replies? Maybe she is thinking of telling you what you want to hear and not what the real truth is.

Your intuition will tell you "concretely", if you think she's lieing then she most likely is, if she lied several times before then I wouldn't believe anything she said until she proves that she is telling the truth about it.

Look her in the eyes and ask her a question that she cant lie about, like her name or something. Check out her eyes while doing it, so you can get a baseline response. If she look around, she trying to think of an answer, If she looks away real fast she's probably lying.

If here eyes move up and to the left when you ask her a specific question about it then she is telling the truth if her eyes move up and to the right she is thinking of something to tell you (a lie).
