Yes. And you can tell a lot about someone's character as well by his/her behavior when no one "important" is watching. Great question!

If you are perceptive, Yes, Sometimes people will act much differently when they have anonymity, than when you know who they are, but some people don't really act any differently, so you have to look for subtle clues to 'guess' which kind they are. I like to have humor and sometimes sarcasm in my life, and my answers sometimes reflect that, but sometimes I try to be helpful, if I think someone wants a straight answer, and don't put humor into it. so I guess for me, My answering style changes to fit the situation, and it may be hard for someone to know if i was joking or serious, though mostly I am not a very serious person, unless I am taking action on something, then I get the job done, and play later, Does that make any sense? But , Yes I think for most people, you can somewhat tell their personality from at least some of their answers, especially if you take time to read several of them, and sort of get to know them a little, I have a few favorite people on here now, and enjoy it when I see them show up for a question or answer.

I believe shy people tend to answer things with witty comments to cover up their shyness or lack of confidence, thing is if they just relaxed and carried on like that all the time they would lose their shyness big time, smart and boring answers seem to belong to bigheads or uncarring people, boring is only boring to the person who's not interested!!!!!!!!!!

If you're sitting there, about to ask a question, you might as well give up and just look into the person's eyes for about 30 seconds... that would give you an unusually powerful glimpse into a person's personality and attitude, as has been proved by numerous studies detailing the effects of strong and maintained eye contact.

Not entirely. My ex-husband is an extremely witty, fun person when he is writing, but very depressed and angry "in person". Although his writing indicated that he is intelligent, and has a sense of humor, it certainly didn't tell the entire story. So you can get a glimpse into someone's personality, but it may only be what they want you to see.

To a degree yes... though sometimes, it depends on their mood at the time... best way is to monitor a few of their answers and see them in all their moods, and particularly across the type of subjects they spend time on serious answers.

This way, you'll get an overall idea as to personality and likely be as near to right, as can be... the older you get, the easier it gets to suss people out.

but always remember that few people are really who they say they are online and fewer still, tell the truth...

I speak with eight years experience of the net and someone who ran various discussion forums in that time, and had to ban some nasty characters, who masqueraded with a number of identities.

Nope. You can tell if someone has a sense of humor, intelligence, an education, sincerity, or whether their motive for responding is to shock, or agitate. But, a personality is way too complex to be determined from what someone has to say in answering one of these questions.

Not entirely. They can falsify or choose answers that they would like rather than what is true of themselves. I took a long extensive personality test and it took me three times to be completely honest enough to get answers that matched how I really am. and still, there can be some variable differences.

Personally speaking i dont think you can tell by a few questions!you need to get to know the person before you can judge them.
