They say because she is the mother of God. But the Bible says that she is resting in her grave. So, who are they worshipping?
Worshipping anyone other than God Himself though is breaking the Ten Commandments. Did you know that the Catholic church changed the Ten Commandments in their Bibles to take out the one about bowing to images? It's very interesting. Contact me for reliable sources - the Catholic church herself - too many to list here.
P.S. Worshipping, praying to her, what is the difference? Do you pray to someone who is not your God?

It's an interesting question. The Old Testament forbids the worship of graven images, so you might conclude that it is against God's will for anyone to worship anyone but God.
The Roman Catholic church takes a different view. They allow followers to pray to Mary and hundreds of Saints for their intercession with Jesus and/or God on their behalf. This neatly gets around the rule about worshiping other Gods. They don't claim these images represent Gods, just people that might be able to put a good word in for them with God.
In actual fact, saint and Mary worship is Big Business for the Catholic church; and what might have started out as a real relgious belief has been morphed by capitalism into a profitable sideline in selling cheap statuary to their flock.

I htink some people seek a Jesus substitute because Jesus isnt somehow merciful enough. Regardless of a particular Christian view, I think its wise to avoid a practice becoming a gospel substitute, a jesus substitute or a god substitute
Mary is a great example and named as most blessed woman in history by the angel
Catholics do not officially worship Mary or Saints
in actualy practice it's easy for some poeple to make Mary a Jesus substitue out of Mary or a Saint The nuns told me they way to get God to do something is to get his mother to make him do it.... AHEM... well meaning but ... God is the msot merciful thing in th world
God looks on the heart to hear prayer and it is really problematic how Mary and Saints would hear prayers and totally unnecesary
Mary Maximalists also consider Mary a coredemptrix or co author of chrsitianity and I see no justification for the in the scripture and I thnk that line of ellevation of Mary is in the non biblical direction

This has been answered at least 100 times in the months I've been here.
Catholics do NOT worship Mary. They literally ask her to intercede in their favor with the Big Guy, and generally praise her for being a nice influence.

Catholics have their own doctrine that is not of God. I was once a catholic and I've been through their lies. God says not to worship idols and stautes, but they all pray to statues and idols. Mary cannot help anyone. She was just the vessel that brought our savior into this world. Even when Jesus was dying on the cross, He addressed Mary as Woman and not Mother.

I'm a Christian but our Church does not worship Mary. We don't believe that she is in the heavens because the Bible said that none has entered the kingdom yet. The Roman catholic Church instilled this belief BUT it was actually the Devil who instilled this to the Roman Catholic Institution. It is imperative for the ENEMY to sway many people's faith to a FALSE BELIEF to shadow the real core of worship w/c is Christ.

They are taught they dont worship mary but when you make statues of her, kneel and bow to her, and pray to her like she can even hear you, and call her the mother of God and give her all these high and exalting names, then you see they do. I dont think that all catholics look at her this way but some do and theyre not ablle to see it from out here. There is no proof she didnt sin or that she didnt die.

The question of ´´worship´´ is one of the most important. Satan rebelled against God because he wanted to be worshiped instead of he worshiping his creator. He told Eve in the garden, ´´You shall be as Gods´´..etc. By having people worship someone or something other than God himself, he (Satan) deviates rightful worship away from God. In the end, Antichrist (who does the will of Satan) will be against that type of worship too. That is, he too wants all the worship to himself; Not to God or Mary or any other. May God give light!!

Catholics DO NOT worship Mary. Catholics worship the Holy Trinity (a.k.a. God): the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Mary and the other saints provide good, human, role models who help us live out our faith.

yeah I was wondering that too, just because she gave a miracle birth of the son of God, doesnt justify her being worshiped, its not like she slept with God or something.
and to worship her as a statue I think is a heracy, its Idol worship no matter how you look at it...
remember the 10 commandments??
Thy shalt not worship any other but Me.
and So on...
I don't get it.
