First off, just remove all the AOL software using add remove programs including viewpoint player. Then download spybot search and detroy or tuneup utilities trial. Each of these has a startup manager that will allow you turn off programs that startup when the system is booted. If you turn off something that you later need, you can turn them back on easily (unless your tune up trial has expired, which is why I recommend spybot)

I have better luck with the google toolbar, although I use Yahoo mainly for my search engine. AOl is a ripoff. Why pay extra on top of what you pay your ISP, for the same protection you can get anywhere else? I heard that Aol is going to make their DSL and Broadband free, if you use dial-up, then you still have to pay.

AOL...? isn't that from the dinosaur era, with the little yellow operating guy...? pcs are very fragile, like use, what you probably did replaced into equivalent of someone being hit with a baseball bat and completely dropping a number of their significant memories :(

when does it start?
if starts only when you boot up your computer-- that means there is a link(s) in you "Start up" folder.
Go to "my computer" --> "documents and setting" --> your user name --->"start menu" --> "programs" --> "start up" folder
and delete them from there as well
