Hello..Zoloft is one of the fast "working" (giving effect) SSRI antidepressant, which contains the active substance Sertraline. In comparison to other SSRI antidepressants like Paroxetine, Venflaxine etc. Sertraline (Zoloft) is of top choice COPING REALLY FAST ( the therapeutical effect usually comes within 2 to 3 weeks) with various depression (bipolar, etc),also associalted with anxiety etc. Other important thing is the prescribed dosage..it should be regulated very well. Usually the starting dosage is 25 mg for the first 3 days, then 50 mg ..up to 200 mg (in the most severe mental conditions). The average prescribed daily dosage is from 50 to 100mg . I strongly recommend Zoloft, simply because really works..Best of luck !

I think it depends on how you are feeling prior to taking it...in other words just how "depressed" you are. Once when I was pregnant, I was very far a long and my obgyn gave me a sample packet because I was really very depressed. I was so afraid to take it but did so and I felt a tingling and a buzzing and began to mellow out quickly...like within 1/2 hour. I did n't take another one during my pregnancy because i was so worried about the baby getting sick from it. So I stopped. But then a few years later I was dealing with what my dr thought might be a depletion of serotonin. I had been very stressed out by a behavior of someone whom I cared for very much. So I took it...and nothing. I never felt a change at all and so the "effect" of it starting to work never took place. 4 months later I got off of it and suffered terrible withdrawal symptoms. Please do not let anyone tell you that they are not real, they are. But zoloft is a wonderful drug and helps a lot of folks. Just that when the time comes to get off of it, please beware that the w/d symptoms are very real. Message me if you want more info on that.

Zoloft, like most SSRI antidepressants, will take an average of 4-6 weeks to show any effect. The more compliant you are with taking the medication consistently, the sooner you should see desired results.

How should I take Zoloft?
• Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results from the medication.
• Take each tablet with water.
• Try to take the medicine at the same time each day.
• The oral liquid form of this medicine must be diluted before you take it. To be sure you get the correct dose, measure the liquid with medicine dropper provided, not with a regular table spoon. Mix the dose with 4 ounces (one-half cup) of water, ginger ale, lemon/lime soda, lemonade, or orange juice. Do not use any other liquids to dilute the medicine. Stir this mixture and drink all of it right away. To make sure you get the entire dose, add a little more water to the same glass, swirl gently and drink right away.
• Try to take Zoloft at the same time each day.
• Zoloft may be taken with or without food.
• It may take 4 WEEKS or more for you to start feeling better. Do not stop using Zoloft without first talking to your doctor. You may have unpleasant side effects if you stop taking this medication suddenly.
• Store Zoloft at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

It usually takes about a week or so for you to start to feel real changes. I used to take them and they were good but I got off of them because I wanted to not be depressed all by myself w/o the Zoloft.

You are supposed to experience the effects of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, Zoloft, within about two or three weeks.

Full therapeutic effect may be delayed until 4 or more weeks of treatment. Take capsules with food once daily, preferably with evening meal or breakfast.

I am on 50 mg. of it. It took about a month to kick in...It took forever..but was well worth it.
It might also depend on how much your dosage is.
It has to build up in your system for it to work to its full extent.
Good luck.
