I mean, the truth was pretty amazing, who knew our sun was only one of billions of stars, and it really blew our mind when we found out ours was only one of millions/billions? of other galaxies! We didn't find out about how not alone we were in the universe until 70 years ago--we are so teeny tiny but are part of something so huge--one of billions and billions of stars and planets-- perhaps even other universes--how could anything earthly even answer a question like that when we now know what the real truth is?
Don't you think religion should work with science and try to find philosophy of what happened before the big bang why everything in the universe evolves instead of trying in vain to fight it?

It’s the same reason why you won’t find out, in a math textbook, what the cause of the Civil War was, or why the method for solving differential equations isn’t mentioned in a book concerning world history. The wonders of astronomy are absolutely irrelevant to the aims of the Biblical figures and authors. Jesus, his disciples, and the authors of the Bible were concerned more with truths that pertained to the human soul and morality than concepts concerning science.

Are you kidding? in America they still have a flat earth club. Your average classical period scientist was saying that the sun revolves around the earth, that's pretty recent history compared with the time the book of Job was written.. Imagine, that was the ´´scientific´´ community. But 3000 years ago LQQk at what was written in Gods book, the B.I.B.L.E., Job 26:7 For millenniums, various theories of what supports the earth--elephants, giants, and other fantastic means--were accepted by mankind as truth. The Bible made no such absurd error. How could Job, more than 3,000 years ago, possibly have known that God "hangs the earth upon or over nothing," except by divine inspiration?

The Bible does have some information about astronomy...

It does comment on the (using my best Carl Sagen voice) "billions and billions" of stars. It points out that the number of stars in the heaven is like the number of sand on the seashore.
Genesis 22:17 that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is upon the seashore. And thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies.

For centuries astronomers tried to number the stars—Ptolemy counted 1,056; Brahe, 777; Kepler, 1,005. Eventually scientists came to agree with Jeremiah 33:22, "...the host of heaven cannot be numbered,".

Refers to the stars as being beyond the atomsphere and out as far as heaven:
Job 22:12 Is not God in the height of heaven? And behold the height of the stars, how high they are!
Paul speaks of being taken up to the third heaven in 2Corithians 12:2. First heaven is our atmosphere, second heaven is the universe beyond, and third heaven the dimension of "heaven" that lays beyond the universe. So they knew the "heavens" went beyond the Greek idea of a great bowl over the flat earth.

For many hundreds of years, astronomers thought that the moon gave off its own light. The book of Job—the oldest book in the Bible—in Chapter 25, Verse 5 says, "Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not;".

It wasn’t until after Columbus that the world decided to catch up with the Bible on the fact that the earth is round. Isaiah 40:22 says, "It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth,". The Bible has always had the answer!

Isaiah 40:22 is not the only verse in the Bible which speaks of the circle as descriptive of the shape of the earth. Proverbs 8:27 reads:

When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth...

The word "compass" can mean a circular enclosure or a spherical envelope. Since the verse speaks of an extended area -- some three-quarters of the surface of the earth -- the spherical enclosure for "compass" is a better interpretation than a circular enclosure.

Likewise in Acts 1:8, Jesus gives His commission to His disciples to be witnesses "unto the uttermost part of the earth." Note here that the word "part" is singular. A flat earth with four corners should be indicated by "uttermost parts;" but a spheroidal earth would have only one uttermost part, its opposite side or antipodes. Thus the Bible does not necessarily teach that the earth is flat.

While mortal man is not capable of even counting the stars, look at God’s personal knowledge and concern for every distinct part of His creation. Psalm 147:4 says, "He telleth [counts] the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names."

A better question would be why don't we spend more time and money on the people who are hungry, homeless and alone in this world and leave the stars and the plants and the rest of the universe out there in space to God. Can you imagine how many people could have been feed with the money we wasted just a few weeks ago when we sent people into space just so they could float around up there for a few days. How many homes could we have built? Oh? Lord forgive us for our wastefulness

Is there not something about worshiping new moons in the Bible?
~~~~~~
I have an interesting dissertation regarding Astrology from a website.
Sorry- but I cut-n-paste. I hope this is no more wordy than your posting above. Nothing out of The Bible - but neat anyway.
~~~~~~

Q. Astrology is big business and everywhere. Is there any truth in it?

A. NO! There are four basic systems of Astrology.
Indian, Chinese, Aboriginal, and American.

Proponents of each claim theirs is " the accurate one".
Users also claim marvelous accuracy for the one they happen to use even though
ALL FOUR SYSTEMS CONTRADICT EACH OTHER IN MANY WAYS!

Three of the four systems base their "charts" on fewer planets than really exist.
(Obviously the magnetic attraction of the newer found planets "doesn't count".)
Aboriginal astrology bases its system on Seasons, etc. .

Wishful thinking allows the human mind to remember the few successful
predictions yet forget the unsuccessful many.
There is a very strong tendency for persons to "go out of their way" to make
predictions happen! (Called "self fulfilling prophecy")

Relying on the position of Stars is certainly NOT a Christian way to live!

Instead of Praying to God, through Jesus The Christ, one can rely on
Blind Luck, Biorhythm, a Rabbits Foot, a Lucky Coin, Crystals, The Stars,
the "laying of Cards, Moon phases, or even the" flip of a coin".
Any of which could be, and sometimes is, controlled by a demonic force or demonic forces.

I HAVE YET TO MEET AN ASTRONOMER WHO IS A BELIEVER IN ASTROLOGY!

Actually there was a hint about the stars in the book of Isa.
Isa 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.:

Do you notice the word circle?
You have to be out in space in order to see that the world looks like a circle.
Similar to the sun when we look at it or the moon for that matter.
When we look at them, don't they look as circles in the heavens to us?
Until Columbus, the world was flat. the fourteen hundreds.
The book of Isa was written 720 years before the birth of Jesus.

Science is saying now that there are threads of the original creation floating around and they are trying to use these to reverse engineer to the be beginning. They say that at the big bang there was light so bright that there are threads of it still left.

So in the book of Genesis ( the beginning )
Gen 1:3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
Don't you find this interesting?

Not sure what your POV is on the subject. But here's my take...

5000 years ago, when history began, mankind could not understand the concept of astronomy. Trying to explain planets,stars,suns,solar systems, galaxies, universes...would be like telling a cock roach about "Dancing with the Stars".

Some say that God crated life, evolution created man.
This philosophy kinda weaves both arguments together.

"Don't you think religion should work with science and try to find philosophy of what happened before the big bang why everything in the universe evolves instead of trying in vain to fight it?"
Science doesn't want that kind of thing happening. And I don't feel right about subjecting Chirstianity to that kind of tangent.

I think it's good to keep the two separate. I believe that they are no good together.

Both side have political pressures, and next thing we know science is inundated with politics instead of science! ( Global Warming, Ozone Hole) Oops, too late!

Well, according to the bible, the universe doesn't look like that. Basically, the Wholly Babble sees the universe as a terrarium... the earth, enclosed in a solid dome (the 'firmament'... otherwise known as the 'sky') that has the sun and the moon and a couple thousand stars (for omens and portents) affixed to it. The 'firmament' separates the earth from 'heaven'... so, essentially, heaven is 'on the other side of the sky'.

Not only the primitive people in biblical times think that this was an accurate representation of the universe... apparently, god did, to. Witness the story of the Tower of Babel, in which god got honked off and confounded everybody's speech so they could not complete the tower, which men intended to use to encroach upon his domain.

This represents the 'true' state of the universe, and for around 1,000 years, people were tortured and put to death by the Christian hierarchy for even daring to THINK something different (look up Giordano Bruno, as an example). It is only after the Renaissance and the Age of Enlightenment kicked in, and revived secular (Pagan)knowledge (preserved through the Dark Ages by the Muslims) began to trickle throughout the West, that the dark, evil pall of ignorance and oppression that had been imposed by the christian Church began to recede, and non-canonical knowledge began to emerge into the light of day.

Any hopes you might have of 'religion' working with 'science' to try to find a 'philosophy' of "... what happened before the big bang why everything in the universe evolves..." is futile, for several reasons.

1. Science doesn't do 'philosophy'.

2. Science does not CARE about religion... it is 'out of scope'. Science looks for natural explanations for the natural world (universe). Religion, by definition, deals with supernatural matters.

3. While science does not CARE about 'religion', religion cares VERY MUCH about science... not for any GOOD reasons; rather, religion CARES because it sees science (methodological naturalism) as a HUGE THREAT.

God, today, has been reduced to a 'God of the Gaps'. The biblical description of a 'terrarium universe' (above) is, of course, absolute nonsense. But it wasn't ALWAYS nonsense... once upon a time, it was the WORD OF GOD. But the word of god was replaced by scientific knowledge... and God was PUSHED BACK. It used to be that demons and 'vapors' were responsible for illness... but science has shown that viruses, microbes and genetic defects are responsible for illness... and, again, god gets pushed back.

And so it goes... god gets pushed back and secular (scientific) knowledge fills the void. The 'God of the Gaps' gets diminished, and scientific knowledge grows.

In the good old days, the church establishment had some very effective means of fighting this problem... they would publicly torture and very painfully and messily kill anybody who dissented. Today, though (much to their dismay) they can't do that anymore. Today, all they can do is lie, misrepresent science in general, intentionally misinterpret scientific data and evidence, misrepresent what a scientific 'theory' is, misquote scientists (or otherwise misrepresent their statements by taking them out of context)... and most importantly, try to keep their 'flock' from learning, evaluating, and accessing genuine science by deceitfully portraying themselves as the only 'trustworthy' source for information on science, and interpretation of it.

To witness this absolutely shameful and deceitful process in action, all one need do is look at the totally bogus 'Intelligent Design', and christianity's campaign against 'evolution'. What this represents, and ALL that it represents, is religion's desperate attempts to protect the 'God of the Gaps' from losing still more ground to 'science'.

Sorry... science has no business collaborating with these professional liars, deceivers, and purveyors of willful ignorance to try to come up with a philosophy of anything.
