I say looks is the first thing that appeals to any guy, therefore he goes for the girl. You can't look at someone and know the true personality within just by a glance. First looks, then personality. If the personality is good, then it makes up for the looks. I'll be interested if i found the girl pretty decent looking, smart, kind, caring, commiting, and overall, a great personality. What turns me on about the girl is her personality. It's a must-have.

Well, it's pretty hard for a personality to catch one's eye from across a crowded room! ;)
Seriously, it takes time to get to know a personality, while looks can often be judged instantly (except over the internet!) So, yeah; guys almost always start with looks, but if any guy tells you that he only wants one or the other (as opposed to a great combination), he's probably lying. For any relationship longer than one night, personality ALWAYS matters, and while it probably decreases over time, looks (whatever his preference happens to be) will almost always be a factor.
The good news is that guys' tastes in women vary a lot more than the fashion industry might make women believe.

As shallow as it sounds, I firmly believe there must be physical attraction to a person in order to consider finding that inner beauty as well. Whether it's men or women, would any of us REALLY want to pursue a relationship with an unsightly person? The looks are what makes us all curious to learn more, see more, about that person I think... It allows us to desire to find that inner beauty as well, to know if we've found the perfect person even if only inour own mind?
There are many things about a woman that would turn me on... Her own personality, her smile, her eyes, her body, her scent... So many different things can enter into this portion of your question!

Looks first, personality 2nd. And in the long run I overlook looks. It's her brain that's most important. If she cannot entertain me with words and cannot communicate it's not good for LT relationship. Looks fade eventually.

how would i even get to know someones personality if i'm not physically attracted to her.
