I would say once a day. Look it up on a veteran website.

It will tell you on the puppy food bag how much and how often.
I also free feed. This is so much easier, they stay thin and no food agression.
You should start this slowly until the pup realizes that there is no competition for the food. I usually put 1/2 or a cup in the dish every hour or two depending on the size of the dog. I have really big ones. After a day or two, they will start leaving some food in the dish. It is then that you know it is safe to fill the dish and leave it full.

It depends on how you want to train him. I always allow my animals to free feed, there are always bowls of food around the house in various places, so they can eat as the please. This works well for dogs that can control their appetite and are not chow hounds. A pup may need more structure than that, but it would be several smaller meals through out the day, at least 3, and then as he gets bigger, and his tummy is able to hold more food, you can change it to 2 times a day, and then even to just once a day if you like. Since you want to start this one off right, do yourself a favor and feed a premium puppy food, they do make all the difference. And which ever you choose, will give you an approximation of how much food you should be feeding him daily at his age and weight on the bag somewhere. Enjoy your new pup

On the bag of dog food it will tell you how MUCH to feed but it often doesn't suggest a frequency. With puppies they burn a lot of enegry and get hungry quickly. You chould feed him in a number of smaller meals, throughout the day. I would say a minimum of 3, if not closer to 5. As the dog gets older, you can start to wean him down to about 2 or 3 times a day with larger meals. A puppies stomach is small so you don't want to overfeed them because then you'll be cleaning up vomit.
So, lots of small meals that equal the amount recommendations on the bag.

I feed my new born pups at least 5 times a day. If you are going to buy milk powder, it will say how much should you feed them each time. I don't really understand your question...I don't know if you have your pup now or not. Hope my answer helps.

We have a boxer. We just leave his food bowl out so he can eat when ever he's hungry.
