Is it hypocritical to give more respect to religious leaders of "exotic" faiths while deriding those we grew up with?

No good reason. They should all be treated the same way. But you gotta admit that a Hopi rain dance beats a Sunday mass hands down!

Well, I would say that your statement is a bit of a generalization. I would say it's natural to give people that you are aligned with more respect. Would you say that Christians give more respect to ministers than to rabbis? or hindu spiritual leaders? Probably. But not all Christians.

Considering the history of treatment of Tribal peoples all over the world, I have a hard time believing that their leaders receive more respect than other leaders.

But... of course, that's just my opinion.

What gives you an idea like that? You just stereotyped everybody in western society. No matter...I'm from Carolina. What you are witnessing can be explained by social science as fear. They aren't showing more respect they are giving space. Human nature causes humans to be silent, smile, stand back from, and bow to something unfamiliar to them. It's a small unavoidable fear. The unknown. So not respect but space...hope this helps.

Where are you that Christian ministers aren't respected? What, do people throw rotten tomatoes at them as they walk down the street? Refuse to serve them at a restaurant? Don't return a "hello"? What?

Because really, I have no idea what you're talking about. Or are you just upset that people actually do give tolerance and respect to non-Christians without giving SPECIAL treatment to Christians?

I manage Atheists with admire the two IRL and online. Even on YA I truly attempt to be charitable. relatively I completely forget approximately approximately various the Atheist disrespect and mock on YA. i won't have the ability to declare that I certainly have any admire for the human beings that write various the Atheist "comments" on YA, yet i visit do my terrific to handle the respectfully the two in YA and someplace else. additionally, maximum Atheists i understand in genuine life are relatively respectful of what i've got self assurance. possibly partly via fact they understand me and see me and would't pretend i'm some style of backwoods redneck KKK a million/2-whit with a third grade training. The "christians" (sure small c in rates) who get into spitting fits on YA could turn off their computers and open the Bible and pray. in spite of what kind of salvation they profess, they are no longer serving Christ or following Jesus via partaking in YA or the different communicate board in that way. Love thy enemies. Pray for people who persecute you. turn the different cheek. Pray for the guy who harms you and if he does not repent burning coals would be heaped upon his head. Shalom

I've wondered that myself. Do you suppose if we started dressing our pastors up in polka dot robes and beaded head dresses, we might get a bit more respect, as well? Or would the ACLU step in and ban polka dot robes for school children?
It's a quandary.

This is part of the deception of the last days, and we are finding it in our public schools a lot.

I remember when I visited the chaplain of our county jail (whom I knew) and found out there was a Muslim chaplain too. I wondered how they could get along without compromises.

back to basics... we were all, once upon a time, TRIbes, and believed our priests - shamans... it is hypocritical to condemn them, while being a Christ, Jew, or Muslim. those religions are based on the believes of ancient tribes and shamans. (for example, the word tribe itself... TRI+be, TRI-nity... the patriarchal tribes where ruled by a trinity... shaman, king and his son...)
Read the books of E.P.Blavatskaya... it might explain you the basics of the most popular religions, with nice facts, better then i do.
one more thing, we people are still animals(you can't argue on that), and in this case, if not our logic, then our instinct tells us, , what is the best way...

most funny person? someone who takes himself serious... that might be the reason, why some religions seem to fail...

Well, have you ever heard of a tribal shaman stealing from its parishoners or raping little boys or being sex offenders or killing people or cheating on their wives?

Perhaps because so-called "Christ"-ian ministers still law impute sin & death for the hell of it; when told "Christ is the end of the law" and "we are delivered from the law" as if in answer to prayer: "deliver us from evil".

As for God, "there is no respect of persons with God". We all are one. So far "one proseltye": "twofold"(law law): "more the CHILD of hell" than former hypocrites, fools, vipers, and blind guides who sat in "Moses' seat"(Mt 23): Law Law(Mt 22).

So let us move on, from being law law them vs them folk in plural and divided left/right law/law heavens on high, to being grace us folk only, in "heaven"("higher than the heavens"). Let us not mind 'high" things nor be highmindead, which is doublemindead.

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
