stop using counterfeit software

You're giong to have to reformat and put in a fresh copy of XP, then as far as Auto Updates,check the custom updates and don't download the Genuine Advantage tool. You're only going to get rid of the Validation Notification. You're not going to be able to get all the cool stuff like IE7, or Windows Defender until you get a VALID user key. You can download updates and such,as long as they don't have that funky looking asterick thing next to it.(at Microsoft.com home)

If you want all the cool stuff from Microsoft, you're just going to have to break down and buy a copy. If you feel that your copy is legitimate, there is a link on there that explains what to do to get a new copy from MS. You have to provide them with the disk that you tried to load though.

when you update your windows, go for custom update, uncheck the update named genuine copy notification....
I suggest that you buy an original copy AS it works much better, and has fewer risks.
Also if the message still kepps on coming then reinstall you counterfeit windows...
