Okay, but who should we shell? Israel or Lebanon? Perhaps the Red and the Blue states can shell each other too when we are done. Heck let's shell everyone...Since we built this war machine it's a shame not use it.
Shelling cities doesn't stop terrorists it just breeds them. I'd be a ticked for life if you started shelling my town. Perhaps that is why conventional warfare relies heavily on air power.

In case you are unaware a complete and dominate force in the air means a dominate force in the ground, that's how Israel won wars where odds were terribly against them. I see what you are saying and the answer would be contrary what the bias press shows Israel is trying to limit collateral damage and the best way to do this is thru the air ( besides that it saves your own men). There were some unfortunate casualties but nothing compared with what the radicals have done. For heavens sake yesterday they killed two Muslim brothers is another rocket attack. I agree with your point to the extent that Israel has the right to defend itself doing what ever it takes to protect its country from radical people that want to destroy it. But I also do believe the reason they don't just level the place is because they specifically want to take out the terrorists.

Well then WE would have to go into the war. Which wouldn't be a bad thing, I support Israel all the way. Though Congress supports Israel. They voted on it yesterday I think but there were only 8 objections. So we might be doing something soon like that(why do you think the marines are there and the USS Jacksonville now).

air power is ndeeded first and foremost, airplanes must first knock out strategic assets first before other branches of the military can move in
without air superiority, ur ships and troops will be sitting ducks for an aerial offensive by the enemy

There is always PR to think about (even though I hate it as much as anyone). If Israel killed 1000 innocent civilians (made up number) there would be an international outcry. As is, we can take tanks out from under bridges and leave the bridges standing.
