Don't know why. But to get rid of them take a pie pan place it in the garden so the lip of the pie tin is flush with the ground. Pour a inch of beer in the pie tin, yea beer. It attracts the like a magnet attracts metal an they drown or get very drunk and go to party more in Miami.

Don't know but try this...and it actually works. Fill a small lid from a jar or a dish with beer. leave it overnight. The snails and slugs actually crawl into it, drink and drown. no kidding. Works great and no mess left to clean except discarding the carcases.

cause u have plants......... u can throw salt on them (evil thing to do, shrivls them up) or u can also get some snail repelant.
