Well, years ago, before the invention of remote controls, people actually had to walk over to the television to change the channels. I'm pretty sure that I didn't suffer any health problems by doing it.
However, before embarking on any exercise routine, you should check with your doctor.

Nope. It's better than sitting there and using the remote. At least you'll get a little bit of exercise (even if it is only 4 paces to the tv and back).

it's almost like exercise to an extent - it's better for you to get up and move around than just sit on the sofa and point the remote
