you should have raised her to make better choices, but now you're going to punish both of them? She'll be punished because obviously (hopefully) she did it because she has feelings for him, and him because it's possible he has feelings for her too, or she convinced him she was older? Maybe you should sit down and have a talk with her first, and find out what happened. Or is that too adult for your emotions to handle? Sometimes someone elses feelings are a little more important that whatever primitive/controlling rage you may feel. She made a decision, maybe not an incredibly wise one, but she made it and you can't protect her forever. Sometimes the truth is hard to accept. And yes, the 22 year old is a loser, wtf does he want with a 16 year old? Please take a few days to ponder before you make a decision that will ruin this guy's life.

In Michigan 16 is the legal age for conesnt. However, was she consenting? If she was consenting, then I'm sorry but you really can't and shouldn't do much unless you want to never have your daughter respect or like you ever again. If she was not consenting, then I am not sure you can do much, cept tell the cops and they may or may not do something. Depends on the consenting part.

It's illegal in Michigan. If he were 16 or 17, it wouldn't be, because she's 16. If she had been 15, it'd have been illegal regardless of his age. It is statutory rape, however, and you are able to take the matter to the police and have him arrested over it. It will also remain on his public sex offender record for life.

Sadly, 16 is the age of consent in Michigan. I don't think that you have any legal recourse unless it was not consensual.

But...since she is technically a minor and he isn't, there may be a statuatory loophole. Check into it.

I don't know if both parties have to be under 18 for law of being 16 to apply.

She is of age in Michigan and many other states. Time to open the lines of two way communication with your daughter. It's not a battle you will win if you try to get in between a boyfriend/girlfriend situation. Time to accept your daughter is not a child and will make her own decisions despite your views/feelings but if you build a good relationship with her you'll have more influence. Insure she has access to birth control etc.

I'm not sure, I believe 16 might be an age of consent. But I believe even if it is, the 22 year old can be charged with Statutory Rape.
