I finally learned how to make a very tasty roast beef, but I need a good sauce recipe to put on the roast beef slices. Any good suggestions? They would be very appreciated!!

If you cook your roast beef in a crock pot an dadd water, it will make a beef broth. When your roast is almost done, mix in big chuncks of potatoes and carrots and cook for the rest of the time. As the veggies cook, they will kind of melt and make the broth thick and in doing so, will make a gravy!

Sauce for Roast Beef:
Pan drippings from the Roast Beef
A little Olive oil
1 clove garlic, cut into razor thin slices
1/2 small onion, chopped
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
Red wine, enough to fill the tomato paste can
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 tablespoon chopped parsley leaves
Salt and pepper

Combine your pan drippings with the above ingredients and
bring to a boil in your skillet. Let it reduce until thick.
You can mix a tbsp of Wondra flour in a little water or milk
and add to the reduction to help thicken.

Roast beef is one of the few things where a complicated sauce is overkill and sticking with the basics is the way to go. Horseradish sauce and some sort of mustard based sauce are the way to go. As condiments served on the side.

i am not too sure about the sauces. you can probably buy a gravy mix packet in the store. many women have told me that they like to fix them roast with cream of mushroom soup over it. i think some sauce with onions would taste great.
my mom makes an awesome gravy from the broth of the roast.

Alex,

Here are a few suggestion: (ps, would you mind sharing your roast beef recipe? I have yet to find one that produces a good roast beef that isn't dry!)

Red Wine Sauce:
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 cup dry red wine
2 tablespoons creamed horseradish
Salt & Pepper to taste

-Drain all but 2 Tbs drippings from roasting pan
and wisk in flour until smooth.
-Heat and stir for 1 minute.
-Add broth, wine, horseradish, salt & pepper.
-Cook for about 10 minutes until boiling and thickened. Strain.
Serve over beef.
-------------------------------
Red White & Shallot Sauce:
4 tbsp butter
2 cups diced shallots
1 tsp sugar
3 cloves Garlic (chopped fine)
1 tbsp fresh thyme (chopped fine)
3 1/4 cups beef stock
1/2 cup dry red wine
1/4 cup brandy
1 bay leaf
2 tablespoons cornstarch

- Heat 2 tbsp of the butter in a saucepan over medium heat; add shallots, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes or until softened.
Stir in sugar & cook for an additional 10 minutes or until shallots are caramelized; stir in garlic & thyme and cook for 5 minutes.
Add stock, wine, brandy & bay leaf, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes or until sauce is reduced to about 2 cups.
Whisk cornstarch with 1 tbsp water, then whisk into sauce and simmer until smooth & thickened; discard bay leaf.
Add roasting pan juices to sauce, bring to a boil, then whisk in remaining butter; serve with roast

If your looking for a different type of sauce let me know, or just go to recipezaar.com, i am a member and get all sorts of recipes from them . Hope it helps! Share your recipe for tasty roast beef please!>!

Thanks
