My kittin goes into our fire place wich my dad blew up...well one night my dad was havin a fire in our NEW fire place and he thought he was suppose to close the doors (but you weren't) and it got all smoky in the room so i brought my little niece in the other room. But while i was in there the whole fire place exploded ( we didnt have the kittin at the time) i went back out there and there was glass every where ( this was some long time ago)....BUT my kittin about 5 months goes into the fire place (when where not looking but i've seen him and wached before when i didint know what he was doing) so i wached him and he was licking the sides of the fire place so i got him out and started to look around in the fireplace (wich was hard me being 13) and he was licking the black ash off the side

Now is this bad?

i have a cat that does that too. She has done for some time and has suffered no ill effects. My vet also thinks its not much of a problem.

Maybe she has a mineral defficiancy? Take her to a vet, see if her diet is balanced, or maybe she just likes the flavour!:)

i don't think it will harm him to much this time but you should put up baby gates to prevent him from doing it again.
