They don't put a warning on the package because the stories of deaths, seven years to digest, gum refusing to exit the system, etc. are old wives tales.
For more info on just how false all of the gum-swallowing stories are, check out Snopes' article on it:

Swallowing gum is not bad. It won't digest in your stomach for 7 years, it won't block your colon, blah blah blah...
Like Jen said, It'll just come out with your next "poopy."
And I'd like to see a source on some statistics on how many people died from swallowing gum. ?:-.
If you would die from swallowing gum, it would be mandatory for them to tell you, just like the Surgeon's General warning on cigarettes, so people can't go around sueing all willy nilly because they didn't "know" smoking or swallowing gum would kill you.
Common sense...

Yes it is bad, people have died from it. It can form blockages through out you body & make you very sick. They don't put it on the wrapper because they feel people are smart enough to just spit it out when it loses flavor or what not.
