If you look into them you will find that both religions are forms of mind controll, they stop people thinking for themselves and making thier own decisions, it is disgusting to steal away peoples free will and call it spiritual.

Majority of the world polution is following these two religions. The possibility is that many can't be wrong or stupid. You are the only one who is stupid.

Already seeing that you're insulting these religions means that you have no knowledge of them or very little and thus your disrespect means nothing. As in, you are against them and seem to have a closed perception and therfore you state wrong assumptions. I'm Christian and can tell you that I don't stop anyone from thinking for themselves or such. I'm not denying the fact that there MAY be some Christians who do, but I think it's best if you stop generalizing. And don't you think you're not doing any better by being so rude and judgmental without even knowing all of consists of the Christian or Islamic religion? Who are you to judge? Who are you to be so rude? How dare you? That's outrageous and I do hope you feel truly ashamed because that's all you seem to deserve after doing what you just did. Thanks for reading and give your actions some thought.

we have to let them believe what they want, as long as they are not being violent because of it. We, as atheists, have the ability to reason beyond the inherited mental defense mechanism that is responsible for most people's belief in a god of some kind. It has been discovered that the belief in a diety who protects and brings you to a happy home when you die, is actually a natural reaction in our brains, to the knowledge that we will all die someday, and any day. This belief acts as a buffer for anxiety and depression that many would feel if it was proven god did not exist. And, we as atheists, have either reasoned above and beyond our natural instincts, or have been born without this mechanism in our brains, like a mutant with a special power to see through B.S.. So, I guess we are kinda special. And, now that I know these things, I cannot in good conscience, try to force the mental security blankets away from those who obviously need it.

Where does religion take away free will? Thats the entire premise of religion is making better life choices through faith that good works and belief will allow you to reap rewards in the afterlife. If you had any complaint or sence of what you were talking about you would have said that religion was created to control the masses and allow for governments to create laws. There is no sin that isnt a crime. Don't be that guy, believe what you believe and let it be.

May I ask you how you got the ability to figure all that out for yourself or did you read too many such questions and answers on the subject. For the simple reason, you had a choice to believe what you do. You also have a right to free speech and say exactly what you have to say on the subject. Likewise, those who believe in a God, be it Islam or Christianity also have some rights. They have the right to expect that their beliefs receive some respect and that they be treated with some degree of courtesy. Now, having said all that, why don't you fu'ck off and keep your opinions to yourself. If you ask no silly, stupid questions you will receive no more answers like this.........

while i agree with you that both christ and mohammed's ideas about how humans should best live (all culled from the evolving hebrew philosophy) have been corrupted and used by the powerful to control other people, the heart of those philosophies - that we SHOULD live to serve others - is good. in addition, people are brainwashed as children, to the point of being told they will 'burn in hell' if they question. Only the very strongest people, then, will be capable of questioning the myths of their captors.

Where i live, the christian right-wingers try very hard to never cross the paths of normal people. No matter how good and decent you are, if you don't believe dinosaurs are a curse from the devil and if you don't believe that chanting a slogan will save your 'soul, then they not only stay away from you, they teach their kids to hate your kids. Iin this way, they and their kids never have to confront their contradictions, hypocrisy, and their belief in mythology.

(We homeschool, so we see these people a lot. I asked my son if I should remove our liberal and anti-fundamentalist bumper stickers, and he said "No, mom, i realize now they just save time."

Jesus said, btw, that legions of people would be led astray by the utter stupidity of his disciplies and the priests of the church who were pedophiles, murderers, and more. what's happend to poor mohammed's legacy is beyond horrific, but for a people always under assault, a twisted understanding of faith is not unexpected.

On a base level, I agree with you, but I think you've over-simplified and generalized the situation. Some people believe because they grew up that way. Many Muslims "believe" because they face persecution and death otherwise. At the same time, especially with Christianity, there are others who have made a conscious choice as to what they believe and do not believe.

Religions were designed for bringing uniformity in social conduct and to develop society where there will be common bondage and faith. Each religion developed with different outlook depending on the social need arising out of the society existent then. Every religion served its purpose otherwise there would have hardly been any orderly civilization today. Thus, it is wrong to belittle any religion and it is a crime to hurt others feelings and/or faith.

This is an offensive question and I am an atheist and if you read my other answers you'll probably find we think alike for a big part.

So I'm asking you, what do you want to accomplish whit this?People who believe have feelings and much of them mean well. They are often raised this way,so don't judge them or harass them. You give us atheists a bad name.
You can convince no one by calling them stupid.
Are you always right on everything?
Get some manners,son.

those that follow are mostly uneducated. Take a look at the news and watch the Muslims? Do many appear to be well educated? Now look at the US Chrisitians? Same thing...Religion counts on the uneducated to follow.
