the morning of tuesday (18/07/06)
The poeple of kenya were shocked with news which appeared in their daily newsletters about a standard one pupil called Allan Kariuki who was attacked by over ten dogs who mauled, killed and eat him, the remains were saved by neighbors who heard the barking of the dogs, and when the reached to find out what was being torn by the canines they were horrified to find that he was an 8 years old boy who has been already killed and was being eaten by the dogs
So far the authorities in kenya have only baited and killed by injection about 12 dogs within the area ( Upper Matasia a suburban of Nairobi City) where the boy was mauled
Sources still indicate that the majority of poeple in kenya who owns dogs do not keep them in their kennells. Thus there are a lot ot stray and loiterig dogs in kenya still posing a danger to small children in all towns and cities of kenya,
The kenyan government should order all dogs kennelled or loitering ones shot dead.

When dogs are left to breed and raise their young without human contact the dogs have to learn to fend for themselves. That means pack behavior much the same as wolfs. If people took proper care of their animals and did the responsible thing this tragedy could easily have been avoided. What should occur is the Kenyan government should do as our government needs to do and make people who own dogs take proper care of them as pets. Spay/neuter dogs that aren't show quality (as specified by AKC and the breed club) and ban breeding of mixed dogs. It's harsh but will save millions of dogs a death sentence as well as prevent the cruelty of puppy mills and back yard breeders.

In Australia there have been many dog attacks lately. A couple of days ago a little 4 year old girl was killed by 3 dogs.
It is a tragedy, I am so sorry to hear of that little boy.
The problem here is irresponsible owners.
Dogs have a pack mentality so I hope the stray dogs there can be removed from the community in a humane way so this never happens again.

thats a pritty narrow view.

if the people took better care of those dogs they wouldnt of needed to kill and eaten the child. they were most likly starving or the child may of thrown something at one of the strays as animals dont attack without a reason.

its people that cause the problems in the first place. the goverment should spay/castrate most of the dogs and put down aggressive ones.

This tragedy is the fault of a bunch of ignorant people who do not know how to properly own, train, and maintain a dog. The answer is not to kill the dogs. No wonder Africa is still a third world continent.

That is what happens when feral dogs are allowed to roam freely in packs.... someone should have controlled these dogs long ago.

Too bad for the poor boy and his family. So sad. I don't blame the dogs though, it's their nature to kill small creatures to surivive. I blame the ingnorance of humans.
