DO you know that Paul the man who wrote 2/3 of the new testament had the same problem? read Romans 7.
His answer is Romans 8.
we all struggle with that, none of us in our selves really do the will of God even when we so want to. it is always going to be spirit vs flesh...
Thanks to Christ there is no condemnation for us, though we may fall sometimes we have an advocate for us who stands by us never to leave nor forsake us...cool
even when we are unfaithful He is faithful He cannot deny Himself...

I do not know whether you are religious or not. When you pray, you believe in prayer and so you pray. Desires are always incompatible but not with God's will. If you and me can understand God's will, we will be closer to God. All prayers are sincere and there is no insincere prayer.

Our desires are always incompatible with those of God's, but to pray sincerely doesn't mean you have to ask for what God expects you to. To me it means to be open and honest about your desires, no matter what they are, when you pray. Praying is like talking, and you can talk about anything and everything whe you "talk" with God.

I am sincere about my prayer and I also submit to God's will. I pray to find my true love. How can that be incompatible with God's plan for me?

Hi!
Good question...
First of all
, fast and pray for a revival of the Holy Spirit in you...ask God to put the "hatred for sin" in you.If you hate sin, you will not pray for things that are against His desires. You need to seek the face of God and ask Him to remove carnality(worldliness) in you.
You need to stay away from ungogly music including the so called "love songs", metal, hip hop etc.
Stay away from friends who do not want to serve Christ.
Stay away from ungodly programmes of television.
You see, you need to first hunger for the righteousness of Jesus Christ for you pray according to His will.
Know that in the end, your own desires will often hurt you,and not God. God is all-sufficient by Himself...He does not need us.It is better to get yourself closer to Him until you experience Him.
Get sermons to listen to during your prayer time...don't mind listening to sermons on your radio through out the day. Open your heart and yearn to hear the truth of Jesus Christ.
Be involved in the work of God. If you are not doing anything in your church, ask your pastor to give you a responsibility in your church.
Praise and Worship:
Tell God how worthy of praise He is...Worship Him for His character...He is a wonderful Person cause He is all powerful yet He is merciful...you don't easily come across such a combination in this world...Begin to admire His character in the bible.
God bless you.

How can you be so arrogant to think that you know what god's will is???
BTW, there is no god, so praying is not beneficial or detrimental. Better to quit wasting time praying and start doing what you can to realize your dreams. There is not a single case that can be documented that prayer worked.

God will not with hold any GOOD thing from you, but if your desires are contrary to His will do you really expect a yes for an answer? If God gave us everything we asked for, when the things didn't work out for our good we would blame God. Trust His wisdom, like you would trust your parents to do what's best for you.

Good question.
Most of my prayers are communication with Father.
To share my cares, worries, love, and thanks giving.
To ask for understanding, wisdom, and knowledge.
Also to repent of my sins.
To worship.
Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

you have to remember we are always going to be sinners. Pray for Stregth from the evil thoughts you may be having, but remember we are all sinners, and all fall by the waist side at least once or twice. No one is perfect! Our mind is our worst enemy! Trust me I get crazy thoughts all the time!

How could your desire be against God's will if God's will is to have mercy(grace) and not sacrifice(law)? Would you not have mercy rather than sacrifice(slaughter)? And if we all are one, would it not be mercy for all? Have you not noticed the only thing "obtain"-able at "the throne of grace" is "mercy"? Who did you think reigns on a throne of "grace"?
The "grace"(God) of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
