The most common cause of UTI are bacteria from the bowel that live on the skin near the rectum or in the vagina which can spread and enter the urinary tract through the urethra. Once these bacteria enter the urethra they travel upwards causing infection in the bladder and sometimes other parts of the urinary tract.
Sexual intercourse is a common cause of urinary tract infections because the female anatomy can make women more prone to urinary tract infections. During sexual intercourse bacteria in the vaginal area is sometimes massaged into the urethra by the motion of the penis.
Women who change sexual partners or begin having sexual intercourse more frequently may experience bladder or urinary tract infections more often than women in monogomus relationships. Although it is rare, some women get a urinary tract infection every time they have sex.

Alas, some people are much less resistant to UTI's than other people are. A person can have a UTI with little in the way of symptoms. Also, any bacteria that make their way to the urethra during sex could do it. You may need to wash before and after sex just to protect yourself adequately.

It's called "honeymoon cystitis". Bacteria from the perineal area have entered into the urethra causing a mild infection. Antibiotics will treat the infection, pyridium will help with the "burning" sensation when you urinate. Good idea to urinate before and after sex/washing before and after/and remember not to cross contaminate from the rectum to the vagina. Any bacteria found in the rectum (usually E-Coli) that enter in or near the vagina can cause bad vaginal infections as well as UTI's simply because of the close proximity of the urethra and vagina. Congratulations by the way!!

Honeymoon cystitis happens to a female that has not been very sexually active before. On the "honeymoon" the couple engages in frequent sex and this causes some inflammation/irritation to the vagina and genital area in general. Some redness & swelling may be present. This inflammation and irritation can lead to a bladder infection for the female.

I have a small build too & have one incredibly muscular tall male Dobermann [around 95lb] & a female Dobermanns. A Dobermann is a headstrong breed & naturally inclined to be dominant breed, so it's vital that the dog is able to respect its owner & look to that person for leadership. I started obedience training from day one & everyone who came into contact with the Dobe trained in the same way I did. Obedience work can be very beneficial to both you and Jack, particularly if your dog doesn't respect your authority, as it can encourage the dog to focus on and respect you. Find a professional dog trainer for obedience work & provide Jack with mental & physical stimulation. Based on the information, he seems like an untrained & under stimulated dog, rather than a bad dog. I agree that if the dog belongs to the brother & the brother is currently not in a position to take the dog, he should at least pay the bills for Jack's training.
