My 2y/o has Kidsongs. I can sing you the opening song in my sleep. I can even tell you what song is coming next on any of the videos. Look at it this way....it is one thing that you can give to them/do for them that they enjoy. I'd rather he watch that then half of the cartoons that are on T.V. now. I don't us T.V as a baby sitter for my son but he will go to the movie shelf and ask for his video's. It educational and non-violent.....so I say go for it. Yes it get's on my nurves and yes there are days that I'd rather break them in half the listen to them one more time. But I've learned to tune them out. i don't however do the same thing that you do.....find myself singing the songs throughout the day and not realizing it untill I've got it stuck in my head.

I, too, have been through the "Barney" phase. It is a phase and she will grow out of it. I still have stuffed Barney's as a keepsake for my daughter. She was completely facisinated with him. I would have to tell her to eat if she was watching while she was supposed to be eating breakfast. She is now 12 and denies ever liking him. I think I even still know some of the songs which is pretty scary. Fear not, she will grow out of it. My suggestion is to show her other things to watch. I know you have other children. Suggest that she watch something they might be enjoying whether it's Arthur, Elmo, or Dragon Tales. But be prepared and patient for at least another year of Barney. Once she hits 3 & 4, the other shows just might replace that purple thing.

I'm right there with you ...
My kids get stuck on one movie & want to watch it over and over!
For awhile it was 'The Sound of Music' ... I think I can sing every song by heart! They even got to where they could repeat all of the lines of the show, and used it in their very own play.
Luckily, they don't stay on one thing for a super long time. We'll have a marathon of one movie and then move onto another ... currently it is 'Finding Nemo'
I guess I don't mind so much, as long as it's a quality show & they aren't spending their entire day watching TV. If they choose to watch the same show over & over during their TV time, I guess it doesn't hurt anything... and actually I think I read somewhere that repetitiveness & routine is actually good for them & gives them a sense of stability.
Enjoy your Barney, because before you know it she'll be all grown up :O)

Oldest daughter - now 22, loved Grease, younger daughter - 18 loved - Barney and CareBears.
Grease I could tolerate longer then Barney.
They have both grown up to be well adjusted young women in spite of themselves!
Just remember to Have lots of fun with your little ones. Before to long - they will be crying with you to the same sapy movies and you will be sitting there thinking - "when they move out - who will I watch all the sapy movies with?! You have so much to look forward too. Enjoy them while they still Think you know everything - cause as they grow they may think you know nothing at all and I figure it must hit in late 20's before they realise you were smarter then they thought.

Yup, I was Barney-ed to death too when they were little. I had a love/hate relationship w/ the purple dinosaur. On the one hand he's so annoying - on the other hand he would keep them occupied long enough for me to sprint through the shower -
Enjoy - they grow up all too fast and then you'll be watching a slightly more mature cartoon.

My son loves elmo. After I get sick of watching his shows I take them over to my sisters house and intentionally leave them there for a while untill I've had my break, then I will go back and get them. If you don't have the movies at the house for your daughter to watch, she can't watch them. You can also limit her tv time to like 2 shows a day or 2 hours a day and then maybe it won't get on your nerves so much.

Mine is crazy for bob the builder.
When he was born, I decided that I wouldn't let that stuff bother me. I know it sounds simplistic, but it worked. I also don't worry about the annoying loud toys--although I don't always replace the batteries right away! :)
Try really hard to not let it annoy you. When he is watching, catch up on your favorite book, magazine or hobby. Take that few minutes to catch up on some emails or housework.
I know once it gets on your nerves it is hard to make it stop. But, this too shall pass and he will have something equally annoying!
