I would encourage her to speak with her Doctor. My brother inlaw snored so bad that my sister couldn't sleep. She begged him to consult with their Dr and he did.
The Dr. sent him to a sleep clinic for evaluation, and he has a SEVERE case of sleep apnea. He's now on a breathing machine at night, and sleeps like a baby.... and doesn't snore a bit!!!!

I snore like mad as well, and here are some of the things my wife and I have done, in order of effectiveness:
1) ear plugs for her (works best with #2)
2) a wedge pillow to elevate my torso
3) sleep in the other room
4) sew a tennis ball in the back of undershirt, PJs top (prevents you from sleeping on your back, the WORST snoring position)
5) medicines to treat sinus congestion, including medicated Breathe Right strips (nearly useless in my case)
She should also go to a doctor to get checked for sleep apnea.

Snoring is not a good sign. Most often it is caused by obesity (now defined as being more than 30 lbs. overweight). She is struggling to breathe and should go to a sleep center where they can study her for a night. She may need a C-pap machine to deliver oxygen under pressure while she is sleeping. She'll feel much more rested too.

My mom snores too very loud but I don't live with her thank God. But when we go on vacations together, I make sure I put in Mack's Ultra SafeSound Soft Foam Earplugs with Extreme Noise Blocker with a noise reduction rating of 32 Decibels. I would never go anywhere overnight with her without them. Give them a try. You'll be amazed. My mom snores incredibly loud and I don't hear a thing even when going to bed after her. :)

Suggest to her that she may want to see a doctor and schedule a sleep study. They are painless and provide a lot of information. With the results they may come up with a plan to help not snore anymore.

strangle her with a pillow while she is asleep, it worked on my mom. the other less radical solution is to record her while she is snoring and play it next to her head while she is trying to sleep (offcourse max vol)

If she refuses to do anything about it, get earplugs. I'm serious, hubby snores.
