Because the Arabs and the Palestinians don't recognize Israel as a legitimate country and they want to exterminate the Jews. Israel has no choice but to defend it self.

Get on the internet and do some research but in a nutshell - this is it: in 1948 the UN "created" the nation of Israel by marking of a huge section of desert in the middle east that nobody would claim.
The people that DID live there were not a nation but hated Jews (they call them Zionists) and were correct to be angry when they were told to leave their lands.
They got mad enough to gather together and be a people - Palestine. Now the "Palestinians" hate the Israeli for stealing their land.
The UN did not recognize ANY people living there at the time.
It was a huge, rude mistake.

I really think that this problem is a LOT older than even the nation of Israel....
Whay back in the day, a man named Abraham and his wife Sarah couldn't have children. Sarah told Abraham to sleep with the maid- Hagaar, so there could at least be children. Hagaar had a son- Ishmael. When Ishmael was... I'm guessing in his teens, maybe early 20's, Sarah finally got pregnant (she was 80-something at the time), and also had a son-Isaac. Even though Ishael was older, Abraham willed his wealth to Isaac.
This is Problem #1- Ishmael's decendants vs Isaac's
Then when Isaac got married to Rachel, they had twins- Esau and Jacob. Esau was born first, and therefore should have been the primary inheritor of Isaac's wealth... Esau was a little bit of a partier, and Jacob tricked him into selling his right to that wealth. Isaac ultimately respected this sale.
Here's Problem #2- Esau's decendants vs Jacob's
Yes, there's a LOT of history here. Ishmael's decendants (I think this is the Arabic nations) still feel they deserve the birthright... Esau's decendants (not sure who they are) also feel they deserve the birthright. Isaac's and Jacob's (later known as Israel) "chosen" decendants feel they also deserve the birthright.
So do you see the problem? It started out as a family issue- brothers disagreeing about who's supposed to inherit Dad's stuff, but instead of the Christian "Love-thy-neighbor" culture (it came along much later), it was the slightly harsher "Eye-for-an-eye" culture.
And the feud continues....

Oh grow up and read your History. That is like asking why was Hitler such a naughty naughty man or Why didn't Stalin give out flowers to people instead of murdering them? If you know the answer to the Palestinian/Israel issue then please tell us. FYI Palestinians say Israel took their land. They also want a home-land as they haven't got one. Israel say they were always destined to live there as the Old Testament says and the British gave them that land in 1948. You figure it out oh genius one.

Try reading the news. Its not Palestine. Its the terrorist group Hezbullah. Hezbullah is a small amount of people talking for the whole country. Hezbullah hates Israel similiar to terrorist groups hating the USA and its allies. They will do anything to exterminate all Israelis. I bet if you spoke to non terrorist people from Palestine, that they would agree if Israel left them alone, they would leave Israel alone.

religion!
Religion is adherence to ancient irrationalities.
Three groups are told by their religious texts/superstitions that they have a divine right to that land.
Until at least two of these religions fade away, the problem is unsolveable.
The best we can hope to do in the mean time (the next ~1000 years) is try to keep the insanity contained in this one area.
